An idiotic management that keeps refusing people using the lovely well lit double height space downstairs with the excuse the security guards can't properly do their job. Each time I visited there were 3 security guards (!) on their phones and doing absolutely nothing but asking people to move out from those tables. An appalling service to the local community.

The library is in a modern well equipped and well lighted big building. But the good things end here. There are not many places to sit given a library of this size. And the worse of all: it's very NOISY. The library layout is a two-floor open space, terrible layout for a space that requires quietness. The children area nor the cafeteria are separated from the study area. So noise flows rapidly throw the whole library. This is a big issue as there are always children or groups of teenagers making noise. Even with plugs and noise cancelling headphones on top is hard to concentrate.

Lovely library - staff were very friendly and helpful. Despite some reviews, when I went during the day the library was quiet and calm - looked like a nice, modern and relaxing space to work!

Facilities are reasonable, with nice views to Camley St Park and St Pancras Station. However, the management and security are an absolute nightmare to deal with. Every time I work from this library I get told off about something by security staff! Feels like you're always on edge. I especially don't understand why the large tables downstairs cannot be used. I always end up choosing the British Library instead. Such a fuss to work from here.

I like the environment. However, the librarian on Saturday just kept walking around, looking at people who were making noise, but never asked them to shut up. I can definitely do his job better. Please hire me.

This is the kind of library you would love if it was empty every time you came. It's in the perfect location and the design is great but not practical. It's often pretty noisy and there isn't always a lot of space if you want to come here and work? The open plan design is aesthetic but as loads use it as a hangout it fails in terms of being somewhere quiet to come and study.

library is in great location. noise isn't a big deal for me, but I can understand how it can bother others. homeless people shouldn't be sleeping there, there isn't much space as it is and security won't let u large tables and benches by the cafe area, such a waste, security won't let u seat there. beside the cafe where there are rows of empty seats, I haven't ever seen this area in use, its a poor use of that space. the number of security guards present does assure you that your belongs will still be at ur desk so u can go off to use the toilet or take a break.

Noise echos from even the lobby right upstairs. Very noisy library. I wanted just to sit at a desk and work.It would be ok if there was a lot of workspace, but there is little workspace and few books. Seems very bad layout and use of space

As far as libraries go otherwise it's pretty standard. You have to have a Camden specific library card to use the facilities, other ones aren't valid. You'll have to sign up for this at a computer or via a paper form. You will also need ID & proof of address for this. The free wifi was pretty good.It has a scanner (the digital kind where you can scan to your computer, not photocopying which seems to get confused) which was something I travelled here from another borough to use as there aren't any in my borough. There's only one computer here with access to it & you can't just take it to another computer to use. So I had to wait an entire hour for my reservation to commence while there were other computers not being used. This library gets bonus points from me for the view onto the platforms at St Pancras. However I have to dock points as the security made for a really unpleasant experience. There is plenty of space across two floors however 2/3 of the workspaces upstairs in the library do not have plug sockets. I needed these to work so I went downstairs by the cafe however security moved me on twice unnecessarily. First time I got told to go upstairs but after going upstairs to see that there still weren't any free spaces with plugs I asked if I could continue working downstairs which was allowed. Only for then an hour later to be told to pack all my stuff up as a space had freed up but by the time I did it was gone & I had to unpack my stuff again. While I was there I saw them harass many others about this too. What is the point of having these workspaces if you don't want them to be used? And if you don't want people downstairs then please increase plug access upstairs.
