Really enjoyed the adult swimming lessons at the start. Until we had to share our session with the ‘adult improvers’ who took over the pool. So now you can’t swim a width to practice. I sent in a complaint and had no reply. A lot of the ladies also feel the same way as me and another rang and told the leisure centre her opinion. Another thing you need to know is one of the male instructors comes out with comments like ‘don’t mind them they’re only women’ like we were in the way and ‘I’ve heard they do better if you chuck them in the deep end’ it might be funny to him but it wasn’t to us especially when your feeling nervous and anxious anyway and you’re trying your best to learn that male chauvinists comments are not helpful at all. My advice to adult swimmers who are not confident is find somewhere else because you will not improve here. They also use the beginners side of the pool for assessments so you’d be lucky to get the half of the pool for your beginner group. I am extremely disappointed and I feel worse about swimming now then I did when I started.

I recently took out a membership at the leisure centre and was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the price was. The gym is reasonably equipped and has everything I need. It is also not intimidating, unlike some gyms. I would definitely recommend to anyone starting out or recommencing their fitness journey.

Been going here for the last 10 years. It has kept me sane after some family loss. Excellent staff and fellow keep fitters.

Been using the centre for nearly a year now. The gym is quite dated and small and reminds me of Moorways in Derby, before it was all knocked down and rebuilt. Richard who works in there is wonderful. He makes everyone feel welcome and is really good at his job. The most decent one working there.I don't think it's worth the £30 p/m l pay. I have paid less for better gyms with better equipment in other cities. The machines always seem to be breaking down. The swimming pool is touch and go. There's dirt at the bottom of the deep end that never shifts. The showers, one minute they work the next, they don't. The hallways are always leaking and smell of urine. I have found my experiences in here to be a little unjust. There have been times when other people's children have been allowed to mis-behave and yet nothing is said. I have seen better standards in Belper and Hull where the lifeguards aren't too lazy to say anything. I believe that if you pay for a service, you should be allowed to enjoy it and feel comfortable. I have been assaulted by other swimmers in-front of the life guards and they do nothing.I have been struck over the head with the rope twice now, whilst swimming, by a lifeguard putting in a lane. On the second time, l heard the male lifeguard say, I've always wanted to do that!"This is the service l have been paying for

Didn't agree with swim teacher sending parents out of the pool when we could have sat poolside. Daughters just wanted us to be near to them. Children can't touch the bottom in the shallow end and lacked confidence. One daughter ended up abandoning the lesson. We didn't continue the lessons after that. NOT GOOD

Had a good swim, water was a bit cold, but diving for the rubber brick with my pyjamas on soon warmed me up.Unfortunately there was a floater in the pool which I accidentally kicked, luckily I had a verruca sock on. The staff dealt with it quickly and professionally. All the staff are helpful & polite & I would recommend this leisure centre.
