Breathtaking place mainly now through winter when is everything frozen and under fog. Highly recommended for hike, or just a wee trip alone or with kids ..

Castlelaw Hill Fort
A short steep walk to the free to enter hill fort which has great views to the south and east. Has a good souterrain with modern roof and steps for access. This is also next to the Castlelaw MOD firing ranges.

Great views and a fascinating souterrain, although strangely remodelled with concrete and skylights. The adjacent army shooting range also spoils the mood but worth the short trek up from the car park to the hillfort.

Great destination for a sunny day outing. Close to city. Sweeping views, many walking and hill climbing tracks. Views near Glencorse reservior are especially beautiful.

Nicely organised paths. Stunning views. Lovely weather. Fantastic Scotland.If you can find fun in walking, hiking, riding on bike or running, then you will be amazed what those hills has to offer.If not, motivate yourself and start walking as this path is fun.

Castlelaw Hill Fort
Lovely place! As an archaeologist, I was really excited to find that there was an iron age site so close to the city. My partner surprised me with a visit which was great, had a good sit with the sheep and had a mooch around in the earth house. A little upset to see theirs very little information on the site and one of the signs was a little worse for wear, but hopefully it might be updated soon? Would be great! Would recommend, especially if you enjoy being out and about.
