Price & Price

In August 2016, we moved into a 1930s detached, arts-and-craft style 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom house here in Chorley. Whilst we fell in love with its period charm, the house was in dire need of modernising and we needed more space to accommodate our growing family. We trawled the internet looking for builders and architects in the area who were doing the kind of house renovations we liked – and came across Price & Price. Shaun was one of the very few builders who turned up to our appointments, answered our questions knowledgeably and, importantly, put us in touch with Rob Sherwood, a domestic property design consultant who then created the architectural plans for our renovation. We knew we wanted Shaun to bring those plans - a single-storey, flat-roof rear extension to house an open-plan kitchen, dining and living room, together with a utility and downstairs shower room, converting the old kitchen and pantry into a 4th bedroom and creating a new front entrance and a widened driveway - to life, so we sought planning permission which was granted in 2017. They say good things come to those who wait – and we did have to wait for Shaun to start this build. We saw this time as a useful period to hone in on our design choices and, soon enough, Shaun and the team started our 16-week build in March 2018. We lived on site throughout the renovation. There was a lot of demolition and digging in those first few weeks – a LOT of mud and mess – but the team were considerate, punctual and fast. They worked in all weathers – snow, hail, even when the Beast from the East hit – and that kept us on schedule. If there was a day when no one was due on site, we were informed, but we only recall that ever happening twice. Shaun was available throughout the build (as he was before it started and after actually) so we were always in the loop as to what was happening on site. If we did have any concerns or issues, he would always respond, quickly and often face-to-face, and that really helped keep our anxiety levels under control.We’ve had brickies, diggers, labourers, roofers, sparkies, plasterers, plumbers, tilers, window fitters, kitchen fitters, joiners, woodsmen and building yard delivery drivers here – all co-ordinated by Shaun to ensure we got the finish to this renovation that we wanted. And we have no complaints – Shaun and the team brought this build in on time and to budget and we are now living in a very beautiful home that better accommodates our family and, as confirmed by local estate agents, has hugely increased in value (above our building spends). We would not hesitate in recommending Price & Price Building Ltd to anyone in need of home improvements.

We have just had house renovations completed by Price and Price Ltd, we cannot recommend this company highly enough. Shaun and his team have been amazing from start to finish. Shaun oversees the project, he is professional and knowledgable and ensured our job was completed to the highest quality in the specified time frame. More than happy with the work Price and Price did and delighted with the transformation it's made to our house. Shaun is always willing to listen to any concerns and act promptly upon them. Not that we had many, the work was carried out quickly and only a few days beyond schedule (our fault anyway for asking for extra stuff). I'm going to be honest, I miss having these fellas around, on another plus side though I'm not going through as much Sugar since they left. Cheers Shaun and gang!

We can't thank Price & Price enough for the excellent work they have carried out on our house. From Shaun's original visit when we discussed with him the fact that we wanted to utilise the space in our home better and ideally wanted a bigger kitchen, to the work being completed the ideas, support and professionalism from Shaun and all his team have been amazing. We agreed in May that the work would start on 10th September and would take 6 weeks and this is exactly what happened. During these 6 weeks Shaun was always on hand to answer any questions we had and his team of workmen were always fully informed on what we wanted so no need for us to repeat ourselves or keep checking on what was happening. Despite several walls being knocked down, new ceilings, floor and exterior doors the mess was kept to a minimum and the workers were always polite and respectful of the fact that we were still living in the property during the renovations. There were no hidden costs which was something we have experienced in the past with other workmen and the price quoted at the start only altered when we added additional work by including another room. We would not hesitate to recommend Price & Price and would certainly use them again.

I never write reviews on things, but as an extension is such a big decision & cost in your life, I think its right to point people in the right direction.We used Shaun & his team at Price & Price builders and I couldn't recommend them more. Shaun and his team have done a great job building our garden room. We are so pleased with it. Everyone who worked on it was polite, respectful of our property and professional. There were no loud radios or bad language, which kept us and the neighbours happy. We would recommend Price and Price if you are thinking of any building project.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This company were truly amazing. I feel that one of the most important factors when choosing a builder is finding someone you can trust 100%. Despite the challenges through COVID-19, there wasn’t a single second where we didn’t have complete confidence in Shaun and his team. Our build was completed in exceptional circumstances, yet Shaun managed to overcome the challenges and quickly adapted to any obstacles and new restrictions. Our extension was delivered on time and to budget with minimal snags. We feel we got more than a builder, we received a great deal of advice, guidance and ideas on things like the design, Shaun is very insightful and can see how your space will work better for you which is an invaluable skill. We now have a beautiful family space which is even better than we imagined. We feel so lucky to have worked with such a fantastic, lovely, professional and hardworking team.

They say you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, well I know a man who can! From start to finish I have been bowled over by the quality and professionalism that Shaun and his team have shown in transforming our very tired 70's house into something spectacular. The team were there at 8.00am on the dot ready to start work, fuelled with plenty of brews, biscuits and bacon butties and in some foul weather conditions thrown in. They left leaving me as tidy as they possibly could and with a quick summary of what had been done and what would be next, I was kept informed every step of the way. Having a good idea of what I wanted, things also needed to evolve as it's hard to visualise when there's such a big change, that's where Shaun's expertise came in and he advised me on what would and wouldn't work resulting in me getting everything spot on. If you need work doing then I would highly recommend Price & Price for your project.

Our dream space made real.When it came to building our dream extension, it had to be Shaun and his team, a decision made due to the awesome work he had completed on a neighbouring property. We didn’t even get any other quotes as we were so certain about the decision.After the initial consultation Shaun informed us there would be an 18 month lead time which turned out to be spot on. The fact Shaun was in such demand gave us confidence we’d made the correct choice and allowed us time to think about the various design elements.What can I say, this is an extremely knowledgeable, likeable and above all professional and skilled team. As strange as it seems I loved the entire process despite some obvious practical challenges associated with a winter build. Shaun and his team were just fabulous, trust the process and use Shaun for his astute design eye, he knows what will and won’t work.Our build was pretty complicated due to the shape of the back of the property, we removed the entire back wall and internal supporting walls and so fair amount of structural steel was involved. It was pretty scary seeing the house propped up in the way it was but you know you’re in super safe hands, nothing phased Shaun and the team.My only regret with this entire build is we wish we had done it earlier. This has completely transformed our home giving us a much more functional, pleasing and above all, a beautiful living space. We can’t thank or recommend Price & Price enough - just a great team of truly hardworking and dedicated professionals.We can’t wait to see Shaun and his team again when we transform our loft space. :-)Tracey & Dave
