The City Workshop Edinburgh

I decided to join up to the drawing for beginners class to learn a new skill and to have a bit of “me time”. I had no idea how much of a positive experience this class would bring me. The atmosphere was calm and Tamar was able to give me self confidence to give things a go as this was very much out with my comfort zone. I can’t believe how much I have learned and how it has helped me to slow down a bit and take a look at what is going on round about me. I totally recommend this course, Tamar takes great care of you and makes you feel special and able to take on any of the tasks.

Tamar’s online Drawing For Beginners course has been excellent. Firstly, it’s great value for money. Not only do you get access to two hours of tuition videos each week for eight weeks but Tamar also sends you the complete range of materials before the course goes online. I think this is a lovely gesture that means all participants have access to the same great quality art materials. There are more expensive art courses available that do not provide any materials.The weekly videos for the beginners course are brilliant. I feel like I’ve learned so much from Tamar’s clear and engaging way of explaining concepts of drawing, including really good warm-up exercises. I have been so surprised that in only eight weeks I’ve developed several methods of drawing using the various media made available in the starter kit. I couldn’t recommend this course enough and I’m already itching to access some more City Workshop Edinburgh courses however I’ll be revisiting the beginners videos until then as there’s so much more I will learn from doing this. If you’re looking to develop your knowledge, techniques and confidence in starting drawing I’d very highly recommend this course.

If you want to learn to draw I can highly recommend Tamar’s Drawing Class for Beginners as a good way to gain confidence and practise the skills to start or restart your drawing.She is very calm and encouraging and certainly embeds the idea that drawing is for fun and not to worry about the outcome. Just pick up a pencil/ pen/ and draw.If you had to miss a class Tamar supported via downloadable videos which were very user friendly.Thank you Tamar for such encouragement and great teaching. I didn’t think I could draw very well and have now started doing a quick - or not so quick - drawing on a daily basis and just love it, whether or not I feel the outcome is OK.

This was a new experience as the last drawing that l did was at school(many moons ago). It was so well organised and Tamar was always so pleasant and easy - and a very good artist! But you were encouraged to go at your own pace, meanwhile you were learning something new every week.It was a small group and personal in a really nice way, supported and made to feel you could do it! Too short! Can only recommend these sessions, it was fun and instructive- thanks Tamar!

It’s been a great experience and such good fun to pick up a pencil and to try variety of other art materials provided and to have go at drawing! Attended the class with my husband and we both loved it! Tamar is such approachable supportive and generous teacher in sharing her knowledge and experience and explaining everything really well. Also appreciated coffee (me) and biscuits (my husband). Would highly recommend this course

Tamar's Drawing for Beginner's course has been a great way to develop skills in drawing in different media. She is constantly encouraging and supportive. Her tips for success have added to the enjoyment and I am already thinking about joining another one of her courses.

My wife and I went to a private leather 'whatever' case workshop with Tamar.We both had a really wonderful time - Tamar was a fantastic teacher and paced the workshop perfectly making sure we were pleased with the finished result. I would highly recommend the City Workshop

My daughter has been working with Tamar for almost a year now, attending a 1-2-1 class every week. She has learned so much - techniques, materials, styles, hints and tips. It's fantastic to see how much she has progressed and how much her knowledge and capabilities have grown with Tamar giving her guidance and encouragement. Tamar has a lovely nurturing style of coaching and works alongside her students to create beautiful pieces of art. If you're considering an art tutor either for a child or yourself, I so recommend The City Workshop and Tamar. 10/10 and more.
