Public Art - Leicester Market Archway

This tall black painted steel archway straddles one of the approaches to Leicester Market (when approaching it from Horsefair Street and Town Hall Square in Leicester) allowing vehicles to pass underneath it whilst it acts a frame for the Market when viewed from Horsefair Street.It incorporates many silhouettes of some of the types of goods and produce available on Leicester Market.It is the work of John Clinch.It has a sister work in the Leicester Market Column in East Gates, Leicester which, like this, was also erected in 1997.
