Rye Harbour Discovery Centre

Superb, a hidden gem I would call it. Super even on a windy day, just wrap up.

This is a beautiful modern building with gigantic windows offering views over the river and salt flats. The cafe offers food and snacks. You can sit on the stools looking out over the marshes and they even provide binoculars so you can watch the wildlife. Toilets available and a ramped access for wheelchair users. No cars around and quite a long walk from the nearest car accessible point. Very peaceful.

Fab find on a beautiful day. Lovely coffee while enjoying the views. Car park free and only a short walk away.

Brilliant cafe. Where else can you sit with a cappuccino and delicious slice of lemon and elderflower cake and watch an avocet shoo gulls away from its juvenile after a lovely walk around the nature reserve (terns feeding fledglings was the highlight). Toilets and shop also top notch.

Nice views of the Rye harbour beach area. Nice pot of Earl grey tea and the most splendid flapjack to be had, whilst in a desolate spot. ( Desolate is a rare thing)

Beautiful location by the sea with views across the marshes. The stunning, modern visitor centre is wedge-shaped and sits in the landscape effortlessly. It has shelf-style table running round one side, so you can enjoy food and drink while admiring the views across the marshes, plus other tables. Light snacks and drinks available. Lots of visual information and photographs. Wonderful!!

Rye Harbour Discovery Centre is a fantastic information point that was funded two years ago by local residents. It is an amazing place where you can get some hot food, cakes and tea, learn some information about the area and buy some souvenirs. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. They called a local bike hire for us just to check that it was open!The centre is located just a short walk from Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, making it the perfect place to stop for a break before or after exploring the reserve. There is a large car park next to the centre, making it easy to get there by car.The centre is divided into two main areas: the exhibition area and the cafe. The exhibition area is full of information about the history and wildlife of Rye Harbour. There are interactive displays, photographs, and videos that will help you learn about the area.The cafe is a great place to refuel after a walk in the nature reserve. They serve a variety of hot food, cakes, and drinks. There is also a small shop that sells souvenirs and gifts.The staff at the centre are incredibly friendly and helpful. They are always happy to answer questions and give advice. They even called a local bike hire for us just to check that it was open!Overall, Rye Harbour Discovery Centre is a fantastic place to visit. It is a great place to learn about the area, have a bite to eat, and buy some souvenirs. Rye Harbour is a great place to go with the family for interesting flat walks and free parking. The new Discovery Centre is excellent and enhances the experience. It provides educational information about the area and wildlife as well as an excellent cafe. Well done, Sussex Wildlife Trust.
