Winchester school of art is the best place to be if you want to see active contemporary artists working hard on thier practice, expeirencing a great sense of community and producing quality artwork.

There are way better places to study fashion-related subjects than here. It was a huge disappointment.Avoid.

Nice place

I was there when Ed D'Souza was Head of Graphics, he didn't like students who thought outside the box, had his favorites who he marked very favorably including Kay May who used to be the then Head of Schools Bashir Makhoul secretary. Ed spent alot of time in india trying to drum up business for the School by convincing the Indian students that the art school was elite; but lets face it since the textile center shut its just the poor distant relative campus to Southampton University (where all the students actually have a social life).Obviously Kay May got a first for her photography degree which from memory consisted of using photos other people took? This is probably why she was able to do the degree and work full time and seeing as she is somehow now the Director of External Affairs" from being a secretary

Interesting looking building might get listed one day

One of those rare occasions you know you'll never forget. So much talent and enthusiasm coupled with a very warm welcome.

Great place for events

I urge anyone with any ambition not to attend this school. It's seeminly just a money-making institution. When I attended I was told you could take motion graphics, I was strung along and made to do illustration for first year. After that I was told that they weren't going to give us a teacher for motion graphics and we'd have to teach ourselves and hand it in at the end. It would be more worth your while watching tutorial videos online than paying £9000 a year to take this course.

I studies Motion Design here in the Graphic Arts course and we had like two good tutors and literally everything else sucked. I asked at the WSA library for the motion design section and the librarian asked me WHAT MOTION DESIGN WAS. The majority of staff have no idea how to advice motion design students and don't listen to the advice of tutors who are motions designers. It's bananas. I literally was having critiques with staff who either never had or hadn't opened AFter Effects in 15 years, never mind anything 3D. Motion design is great, but there was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better places to learn it than here. Youtube is free and it was at least half of my learning so just do that lol.
