Wet Wednesday Afternoon.I had not been here since it was a 'precinct' in the late 1970s. It's an improvement, but marginally. It seems to house all the usual retail park warehouse stores, but in a mall. So they're smaller and less convenient for loading the car. Plenty of empty units of course and every brand of coffee shop as is ubiquitous these days. Nothing really experiential as is the need for live retail today. The greatest offer Redditch seems to have is shoved up high in a corner so you nearly notice it - the Paolozzi Mosaics. The forward-thinking council of the day commissionedScottish artist Eduardo Paolozzi back in the early 80s to come up with this series of large mosaics. It's just a shame they are so terribly misplaced, so high up and now with a whole load of newer steel work to contend with.They really do need re-displaying (at ground level); well worth the investment. And not in a shopping mall; unless someone's going to see sense and turn the mall into a cultural centre, with stages, club rooms, gallery spaces, museums...
