This is a small, relatively well kept, local nature reserve with a short circular boardwalk that takes you around the wetland area created by water filling the disused quarry pits that the site now stands on. It is very peaceful, green, and seems to be sparsely visited.I was able to get around whilst handling an all terrain pushchair although there are some steep areas, and a few steps on the North side of the reserve.

A small but nice walk around on the looped board walk ground fairly good all year round, in the winter the board is filled with water below which makes it a nice walk too. The other side also loops around there is also a small pond.

#wildlifebcn.org№ 1. LATTERSEY.It has a carpark. I thought there was a queue to said carpark, we queued up politely, but no... that queue was for the recycling centre next door. There is a 'this side', and a 'that side'. We went to the 'that side' first where we found the usual propaganda board (pictured) promising us an array of wildlife and flowers. No ducks were mentioned. The That Side has a big pond... water included, surprise ducks included, that used to be a quarry. We found evidence of a battle (pictured) that wasn't mentioned in the propaganda. A path that goes around the border of the site kicks you back out onto the road......So, we went to the This Side instead. The This Side has a... Swamp? Bog? Bigger Pond? With standard issue Wildlife Trust chicken wire. It has an amazing viewing platform and if you really squint through the reeds, you can see the nearby industrial area that provides the grinding soundtrack during your walk.We were unable to procure a dog in time for the visit to confirm whether or not this is a good place for dog walks. In less pandemic-y times somewhere might be open to rent a dog? We didn't see a water vole, but then, the Wildlife people didn't see the ducks that were just there so can we really trust them?Summary:Loved every minute. Maybe in nicer weather there will be flowers and water voles? The locals glanced at us suspiciously, go Whittlesey! Fortunately, no sign of Nigel. F**k Nigel. Nearby railway, oh everybody loves a train!JB & HE 10/4/21#NatureWalkExperts

I love it here. When I was unwell I walked here every morning and it's a great place to sit and relax and feed ducks in the summer. A lot of people forget that there are two sides to the reserve, the side opposite the car park is my favourite. Can be muddy at times so go prepared with footwear.

Lovely place - how the Fens would have looked before they were drained.

Always loved coming here, makes a great short walk and plenty of space to socially distance. Although the boardwalks make distancing a but trickier, the grass paths are fine.Lots of great informative signs and a easy to access car park. There is the other side of the road as well if you fancy a longer walk.Don't forget, of you're a dog owner you must pick after it!
