St Paul’s Surgery
Great surgery, kind staff, always replying promptly to e-consults. My doctor is excellent, always listens to me without interrupting, she is effective, rapidly offers solutions, approves my requests for referrals, repeat prescriptions, and blood tests. This surgery provides a first-class service like private. Couldn’t be happier here. Thank you.

Ive always received a good level of service from this Surgery compared to my previous one after my regular GP left!I have quite a complicated medical condition & so its easier to deal with one GP - usually if I need medical help this starts with a GP call back - since 2014 call backs have happened on day expected - only once was I missed but that was due to my GP being called out for an emergency!Only being missed 1 time in 9 years is not bad going!Personally I prefer to let my GP decide during call back what happens next - theres no point waiting weeks to see her in person if she can sort prescription or tests/referrals during a call back! She can book an appointment quite quickly if she does need to see me!If we need to wait for test results - next steps can also be sorted during a follow up call back too!I have needed to use triage service a number of times over the years - the latest was last year - nurse called within half hour to get more info - she then sent text so I could send photos of injury - nurse called back within 10mins - wrote prescription/sent to pharmacy & requested I go to A&E (I hadnt gone straight to A&E as injury had happened a month before in another county - but I was experiencing complications due to lack of correct treatment whilst away - so I contacted my surgery once I got home!)My experience with reception/admin staff in person/over phone has always been positive!Honestly the service has changed over years - to some it probably seems less personal but thats due to technology being implemented & my surgery arent doing any less than others - I find it easier/quicker to sort stuff like repeat prescriptions using the NHS app that my surgery have bothered to upgrade their systems so I could use it!I also get regular email/text updates from them - have found these useful when it comes to reminding me that Im due/qualify for vaccinations or Im due a test/screening.Surgery also uses this servive to alert me that certain services are or arent available for a while.

Not a good experience with the surgery over the last year, spoke with a female doctor over the phone (not allowed a face to face appointment even post covid) who said the only options for dealing with issues of my monthly cycle were either go on the contraceptive pill or take anti depressants (clearly medical training, or at least the training she had hasn’t progressed at all in the last 30 years; and hearing this from a women was particularly disappointing) they did not offer any further investigation or referral even when I suggested it.Most recently there has been a minimum of 30 minutes hold time to speak to a receptionist, once through their policy will not allow you to make a phone or face to face appointment with the doctor (even when it’s about blood test results they have already received). All the receptionist can do is arrange a call back from the doctor within a time window that suits them. I spent two separate day expecting a call which did not come. I received text messages from an anonymous, no reply contact called ‘GP Surgery’ saying the Doctor had tried to get through and couldn't. I am 100% sure this is not true, or at the very least they are having problems with their calling system, as I received calls to my phone both days and even called my phone from another phone to check it was working. Rather than wasting another few hours or days I have registered with a different NHS surgery and already have an appointment indicating that the service is dependant on the management, organisation and intention of each individual surgery.

Reception is rude and way too involved, I shouldn't be shamed for following the plan with my doctor. I didn't even get an apology after I explained. They're not doctors and I think it's unfair to put them in that position. I've complained before but it's been ignored, they're not bound by to any confidentially but they pressure you to tell them everything.

Our family has only been with St Paul’s surgery for 3 months but they have been wonderful every member of the team has treated us so kindly we were registered within a couple days and the care of follow ups and compassion is so lovely. I just want to say if you’re searching for a new gp St Paul’s surgery is great! Thank you so much for everything so far!

I couldn't wish for a more caring Doctor. The staff are second to none. No matter how busy they are, they always make you know how much they care. Thank you, St. Paul's surgery

Given the negative press relating to GPs and Surgeries, I’ve just had the most amazing experience. Phoned to book a GP appt, told my GP was busy for 2 weeks but another GP may help… they asked my symptoms ( suspected tendon damage to elbow) and then asked if I would consider an appt with a physiotherapist … to which I replied positively ( I wasnt aware the surgery had a physio). They got me an appt within the hour and the treatment I received from the physio was superb. The symptoms had diminished within days.Brilliant service all-round.

Was in chronic pain for over a week and could only get phone call appointment around 2 weeks later and if call missed a text received from doctor (but no option to reply back).Booking Operator robotic with patronising tone. Told couldn’t meet doctor if called early next morning only phone calls allowed but the waiting time is ridiculous. Doctor needs to see the symptoms at early stages and help with pain not two weeks or so down the line.Their system needs changing and staff taught how to better deal with people, appalling attitude which was there as soon as they picked up the call. Not the first time I’ve called having to deal with a salty attitude. Upsets the ‘patient’ more so than the situation they are already in.

This surgery is well loved by many people because of the competence of the Doctors and the general staff hospitality. It also has a pharmacy within which is very convenient
