Abbey Park Bridge

This excellent white stone arched bridge is the only major bridge wholly within Abbey Park. It is situated in front of the Abbey Park Pavilion Cafe - currently run by Peppercorns - and straddles the River Soar which is quite wide at this point on four piers to join the two halves of Abbey Park - the Abbey Grounds which are to its west and the Park itself which is to its east - together.It is many decades old - it wasn't in place when Abbey Park was opened in 1882 but it was built around 1929/30 - but is in fine condition. It is wide enough across its entire length for an authorised vehicle to pass alongside two pedestrians abreast so has the capacity to handle a lot of people wanting to cross at the same time - most useful when shows and events are held within Abbey Park.*Note to Google Maps - this bridge is shown on google aerial photos (because It exists!) but is NOT marked on the default map style so as it's been there since 1930 shouldn't you also show it?
