Beautiful woodland camping. Andy was very helpful. The fire was lovely as were the stars! We had room to put up 2 hammocks, 2 large tents and one small tent on pitches 8 & 10. Great family camping, 3 generations of us!Downside was no running water and portaloos, with 4 kids it was tricky. When the toilet block is installed it will be a perfect campsite.Airplane noise at night was difficult for sleeping.

What a fantastic, idyllic campsite. Andy, the owner, was so welcoming and took me to the pitch where I met my friends. The pitches are in amongst the trees and provide additional shelter from the rain. Each pitch has its own firepit and the toilet facilities, though basic, served their purpose well.Where we camped was not that quiet but that, in itself, was not an issue. There is firewood, kindling and other essentials on sale in the car parking area. You can park your car relatively close to your pitch which adds to the convenience factor. In addition, just around the corner, is the Old Crowne Inn, about 500 metres from the site, which serves a good selection of beers, ciders and ales, as well as some reasonably priced and generously portioned pub grub. All in all, this spot comes highly recommended, with walking trails well-placed within a few miles by car from the site.

An amazing site. We stayed as a family of four in one of the new Bolt Holes. It was comfy for us Adults on the raised bed section which was around a 3/4 size bed. Kids slept underneath on camp beds which we brought. A lovely well maintained site with basic toilet amenities although they are planning on building a toilet and washing block in future. Andy was very patient with the many questions from our kids who have ASD. Great to get away in a peaceful wooded location. Exceptional value with a great pub just up the road. Sadly we had to leave early but will definitely be back. Keep up the good work and THANK YOU

I had been looking for a while to do some (almost) wild camping and this location ticked all the boxes from the off. Set in the national forest, the pitches are big, each with a fire circle/pit and plenty of room for tent and eating area and to throw up a hammock.Pub 200yds away was really nice, for drinks, food and a shower if you want. Another pub about 15 minutes walk way, equally worth a visit.Andy who manages the site was amazing, really helpful, friendly and definitely added to the positive experience here. We were able to buy all firewood on site and there were 4 portaloos. These were all the facilities but that's what we wanted. We brought all our own food and water. The setting is perfect, you are far enough away from other campers, but they are in sight so you don't feel completely isolated. As soon as I arrived I knew we would be back and that will definitely be the case. I can't rate this enough, fantastic place.

Wonderful place to camp!We were greeted by a gentleman (sadly forgot his name) and he took us on a walk around the woodland to see where we’d like to camp. Can’t imagine this would be the case when it’s busy but as it was quiet we had our choosing! Which we appreciated very much. All areas were extremely well kept and the surroundings were beautiful. Perfect location for a quiet escape! 100% will be returning. Thanks a lot!

This place is amazing. I stayed here with my dad over a bank holiday weekend and had such a good time. Andy showed us around, gave us a choice of some different pitches, and then we were away pitching our tent and building a fire. What I liked the most about F&S is that the pitches are close enough to each other to give the sense of community (and that you're not alone in the woods), but far enough apart such that you do have a sense of privacy. It strikes a really good balance. The pitches come with pre-made firepits. You can either purchase wood on-site or do as we did and bring your own.We spent much of our time just chilling by the fire, but I did wonder off once and explore the woodland paths, they go surprisingly far and you can walk for long enough that you lose the sounds of the other people altogether and just have the sounds of the birds and trees - it's really lovely.I have a personal interest in stars and space, so having the clear skies here for stargazing is an added bonus! I've attached one of my pictures to this review to give an example of what you can get just from the camera on your phone.Overall, it was a great time. Would recommend a stay at F&S to anybody!

Our first family camping experience and it was great.Andy was there on hand to show us our pitch, supply us with firewood etc.We had a great evening, the boys slept really well and the shelter from the trees meant the rain didn't really bother us.We'll definitely be back.
