I was here from December last year to March this year, I don’t have a bad thing to say about it at all. I have autism so it takes me longer to process stuff and requires more support, which was given to me. The staff are so sweet and listen to you which a lot of places won’t. so ty

I have been seeing a psychiatrist here for many years. He has been amazing and I do not think I would be where I am now without him. Based on my experience I fully recommend this place.

This practice has no real duty of care to its patients. It does not live up to the amount they charge. £140 for half an hour but if you have any concerns or request a phone call they cant even be bothered to get back to you.

i was here for 5 months at the beginning of this year. i came in absolutely terrified because i was so young and had never been inpatient before. the admission process was far from great (in my experience) and i was left waiting in my bedroom (which patients are NOT allowed in during the day) for around 2 hours before my mum went and had a word with the ward manager. settling in was very difficult because the staff often ‘forgot’ me, it was the other young people on the ward who reminded them i was there and i needed to be shown around, be given menus etc etc. staff were also very bad at giving me induction. i relied on the other patients to teach me about the routine and rules etc. however, all the staff were absolutely amazing, 99% of them have patients best interests at heart and will fight for you to have a voice in your care and compromise with you. of course there were some rude and less trained staff and agency staff were required every day and night because of shortages and respectfully, they were hopeless at dealing with mentally ill youth with eds. the best care i had was from my mdt team, my consultant (kris) was an absolute gem who allowed for me to have local leave within the first month of me being there and always put his trust in me which helped me feel so appreciated especially as i was under section and having professionals actually trust you in those circumstances is so rare and humanising. my therapist (tasha how i love you) was a lifesaver. i would not have been discharged if it wasn’t for her. one thing i especially appreciated while i was there was restraint being the last resort. any patient there is a child and no child should have to be restrained unless they are at risk and staff fully understood that and tried their best to make it less traumatic. they are also so accommodating to neurodivergent people in school and on the ward. school was fab, obvs there were ups and downs but i always felt supported in school no matter how i was feeling. yoga was my fave part omg. overall i am SO grateful to brighton and hove it’s given me the skills to recover from my eating disorder and i’ve made some amazing, supportive friends who i will be forever grateful for. again big big big thanks and love to kris, tasha and ammi you are awesome at your jobs i will forever be in debt to you and what you did for me!

Our daughter spent 3 months here as an inpatient at the CAMHS ED Unit. This was the third specialist unit that she has been placed in and it truly stands out as an exceptionally good facility. The staff are caring, friendly and deeply committed to doing the best they can for the patients in their care. Our daughter was very ill with some very challenging behaviours, but they refused to give up and treated her with compassion and kindness as they encouraged her on the road to recovery. The staff are well-led and clearly form a great team, working well together and with us. It is the first time as parents that we have felt completely involved and supported in our daughter's inpatient treatment and this collaborative approach achieved some amazing results. We were not only listened to, but actively consulted, to achieve the best tailor-made approach for our child. Our daughter has left this unit ready to challenge her disorder and this hospital can take much of the credit for her improved state of mind. We will remember this as a very special healing place full of some very special people who we simply cannot thank enough.
