It's cheap and social. If you come in your first year and are social and like to hang out with people, you'll have a great time and meet some awesome friends. If you're less social, or say you get into a less social flat, or you come for the Spring semester, you could easily not have the best time. My flat was actually super clean, but I find the lack of personal space to be the biggest issue, as well as the extremely dysfunction Circuit laundry app (my money kept getting sucked away without even doing a washing and noone, not circuit, and especially not the Lupton Office, cared even the slightest bit to help me). The other MAJOR problem that I HATED about this place is the fire alarm system--every wednesday your fire alarms would go off which would practically give me a panic attack, and also if a fire alarm went off in your block then ALL of the neighbouring flats would also go off. Everyone needs to exit the building and the security needs to come and find the person who cooked without the windows open, or who was smoking in their rooms... Nightmare. There is a great gym nearby as well as a wonderful park with a river and horses, you must go there for your sanity. The biggest thing I would say about Lupton that it desperately lacks, is a common area to meet and socialize with people. The kitchens are tiny, far too small for a proper party or event, and in the winters it is simply dead. Lupton needs to build a common area, a billiards room, a bar or cafe for studying, this is absolutely essential. I would say I am being too generous giving it anything above a 3 on 5.

My son, along with most of the students in Lupton had not put it as their first or second choice accommodation. We had spent a long time looking at accomodation to try as much as we could to get accommodation that would make our son feel comfortable in a location he wanted to be in. To say we were disappointed when we saw Lupton is an understatement. There were 5 boys allocated to the flat with a kitchen that only had four cupboards for individuals to put their food. The rooms were very small... I would say approximately 8' x 6'. There was a single bed against the wall; small built in desk against the opposite wall with a chair and a small wardrobe. What did I expect you might be asking... Well given the rooms were so small I would expect a communal area for the occupants to be able to relax and get to know each other. Saving grace...Given Covid my son spent most of his year at home in what was a very disrupted year for all students but particularly first year uni students who had no real experience of student Life.

Nice grounds. Flats are a bit depressing inside. Narrow corridor with rooms off each side. No communal area (apart from the kitchen). 1 bathroom between 5 with 2 sinks, 1 toilet and 1 shower. Kitchen units falling apart. Good recycling facilities in each flat. Small laundry room for so many students. Brilliant location. Great price.

I've been here a week and I friggin love it, definitely not a good" accomodation in terms of luxury but it has the bare essentials; the definition of "it will do". The people here is what makes Lupton a great place to live

One of sons stayed here in first year before moving into shared house. Typically small for student accommodation with shared bathroom and communal kitchen. Quite dated, especially the bathroom facilities but adequate for first year student. Fairly priced in comparison to some other universities. A good area of Leeds, quite picturesque. No lift, only 3 floors but limiting for anyone unable to use the stairs. Parking is sparse but free.

Avoid at all costs. The rooms are freezing and tiny, lacking privacy if you're on the ground floor of a block. Due to the old nature of the residences, hot water occasionally stops working or water comes out boiling from the taps. The kitchen is not cleaned and the bathroom is only cleaned once a week (which is desperately needed). On-site reception are rude, unfriendly and unwilling to admit any problems. Key fob readers are in dire need of replacement, requiring you to hold your fob for at least ten seconds" as reception so kindly told me. This is very aggravating especially with the manual gate you must push open

Helped my son move in for university, he was made up with his room, and the surroundings look nice, lots of trees and parks, and not as built up as the city centre. Good rail link to the city centre, and still has plenty of local shops in headingley. There is a premier inn right next door so it's handy for visiting. We actually stayed just down the road in headingley lodge, which is part of the cricket stadium. Hope he settles in well and enjoys the next 4 years at Leeds university.
