Topps Tiles - Lantau Grey Marble Tile 30.5 x 30.5cmSorry Topps, we are not happy at all with your Lantau Grey marble tiles.Below is my/our review on this product.As a reputable 5 STAR bathroom Installer I have had the pleasure of installing marble for over thirty years. Regrettably, I recently came across this marble sold by Topps Tiles, which I have to say is complete and utter rubbish. Yes it looks O.K, but upon closer inspection most of the tiles have deep fractures and simply break in the box or break when they are being wet cut. I use one of the best wet cutters on the market, which cuts absolutely beautifully, but these tiles are; sorry no good and certainly not worth the nearly £6 a tile they cost to buy!! I found that when handling the tiles, some fell apart in my hand, completely smashing on the floor in to pieces. Even trying to make the simplest of straight cut on these tiles can prove extremely difficult as the tiles break one after another at the nearest fracture point. I also found that at least one tile per box had being repaired with resin. On some of the tiles the repair was very evident with the resin used being a rough texture and not even the correct colour tone to match the tile. I found complete corners of tiles glued back on with the repair resin, which is completely unacceptable. This is all very frustrating as I recommend Topps Tiles to all my customers for what must be 25 or more bathrooms a year! I will certainly think twice about recommending Topps Tiles again, especially where marble or natural stone is concerned, as it is me the fitter who has had to bare the difficulties and frustrations of installing this utter rubbish! Topps, please do us all a favour and consult your supplier about this, as this marble is not worth the box it's poorly packaged in! In summary: Dreadful quality marble at a hideous cost to both consumer and installer!!! What's more, no apologies from my local Topps store in Birmingham, who frankly didn't seem to care less!

Customer was advised buying 5 different batches of the same tiles would be ok to use, was told you wont even notice that some of them are 2-3mm different especially when your doing the tiles brick effect, nonsense! When I called to ask why they had given this advice , I was told to use different batches on different walls and that the advice given was right. Problem is I have more batches than walls and not enough of each batch to finish each wall, the guy who advised admitted he has never laid a tile in his life, so I dont know how he is even able to say what will be ok and what wont.

Sorry but I came in to look around and buy products but staff didn't speak to us and ask if we needed help, which we clearly did. Very few items were priced and no one offered assistance. So we went elsewhere, and took our cash to Capitol Tiles, where is was a completely different story. They showed a clear focus to customer care, allowing us to look around without being hounded. They welcomed us on entry and offered assistance to us if we needed it. They had obviously paid attention on their customer care training days.

Called to your store today, to purchase floor tiles. We were served by Michael, who we found to be extremely, knowledgeable and helpful, without being pushy. Would definitely recommend visiting this store.

Michael and Andrew were truly amazing, its heart warming to see that kind people who will go out if their way to help still exist. They Both went the extra mile to help me.Went to the Binley store yesterday to get two replacement tiles as the tile cutter I bought from screwfix completely destroyed my last two tiles I had from the same batch. The replacement tiles were slightly different colour which staff mentioned and let me compare, so I asked further questions and they offered and helped me try to fix the 2 tiles that had a curved wedge thanks to the Magnusson tile cutter.The end result was pretty good! Thank you once again

Bronnagh at the Binley branch was brilliant, we liaised with her numerous times about tiles/heating etc and she was always very friendly and well informed. We also appreciated the input from the store manager Liam who was also very helpful.

Very good helpful advice from the lady on the till and Andy. Answered my queries regarding mixed material mosaic tiles, and how to mount and grout them really well. So much advice on net forums and backs of products, it was reassuring to ask people who know.Prices comparable to other tile shops and B&Q. Better adhesive and grout selection than that of B&Q and Screw fix.At the till I had the ability to round the bill up to give money to Macmillan. Good for Topps to present their customers with this choice.I'd visit again for any future projects.
