Cannot really tell you how good the food is. I am still waiting for it after an hour of ordering at desk. Oh well, here's hoping the food is worth the wait. I'll add this and up rating to 3 stars. Food was good, not worth the wait though, hence 3 stars.

Went in this evening only to be ignored by the staff as they were too busy talking to another customer. Waited for 5 minutes, his food came out and they just carried on talking. Went to V & V Chinese along the road and the food was lovely

As loyal patrons of the old Empire, we were so excited to see it reopen and try it out! So, it is under new management (although it was great to see a familiar face behind the counter!) and has had a revamp. It was very busy so I think lots of others were keen to try as well!Food wise, definitely different style- similar to e.g. Wok U Like with big portions (lots of sauce!) and a bit of a price increase and menu changes. Good for vegetarian options with a lengthy menu.I think we did prefer the old cuisine which was a bit milder however appreciate others will feel differently.

Very good Chinese. Certain dishes aren’t as good as they could be, like the seaweed which doesn’t taste it much and should be saltier, but all round pretty good. I don’t like the cash only way of running as that’s inconvenient when you collect your food and have no cash, especially as they never say on the phone about that. That’s quite poor from them but other than that we do keep going back!

Empire Chinese takeaway - My first visit here in 25 years the Young man behind the counter was polite & friendly the food ordered tasted amazing & still lovely & hot once we reached home 15 mins later. Highly recommended.

Has always been very good food here but was a bit limited on the menu for our liking however new menu and the food is fantastic will now be our go to Chinese.

So there’s is a review below mine about an awful tasteless plain greasy chow mein and it is COMPLETELY ACCURATE. I got exactly what was shown on the menu. Cheap and nasty this place. And my special fried rice taste weird. Only reason I’m not annoyed is Cus it was only £11 quid. I cannot physically believe there’s ever even a que ??? Some people will eat ANYTHING. lol head my warning

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants that I know of and I have been to many over the years. Great chef and friendly counter staff. I’m happy with my order every time.

Excellent food, piping hot. Very fresh. We ordered by phone and collected in 10 minutes. Friendly staff, we will definitely visit again.

We have used the Empire for years and have never had a bad meal. The only downside is that it can get very busy on a Saturday evening so you do need to order early or quite late. Even so it's worth the wait.
