I have done both a 4 week and 9 week course at Pottery Gagliano and would highly recommend both. I was taught both times by Ami who is very patient, helpful and knowledgeable. The owners are also super friendly and passionate. I'm looking forward to taking another course here again soon. The courses and firing costs are really fairly priced. I am yet to use the open studio time but I hope to in the future when I have more time!

Roberto's knowledge and expert guidance simple shone through from the very first class. The quality of the content and advice offered was second to none - he truly looked at what was needed from the perspective of each person attending and helped guide us to achieve what we wanted. Every step was well planned and organised, with a whole heap of encouragement along the way. Fantastic!

I have been attending both classes and Open Studio sessions at Pottery Gagliano for around 18months. Roberto is a kind, patient and considerate teacher who always has time and advice for all his pupils and enables people at all levels of experience to create unique works of art. The studio is extremely clean, tidy and well equipped with over a dozen wheels and every possible tool for hand building along with a comprehensive selection of underglaze pigments, slips and gorgeous house glazes (both stoneware and earthenware). Highly recommended, Pottery Gagliano has become like a second home to me.

I love coming here. It’s a wonderful place to come and make something - no matter your level of experience. There’s a lovely community of potters to chat with and very skilled, patient studio leads and teachers to guide you. If you’ve thought of giving pottery a go, I can’t think of a better place to do it. See you there!

A fantastic and creative pottery studio in Brighton. Excellent termly classes (sell out quickly so get on the mailing list). Roberto Gagliano knows all there is to know about pottery and is incredibly skilled at throwing. His teaching style is warm, friendly and patient and his classes are always very popular. The studio is a large, bright, airy and very well equipped space and on certain days of the week, if you know what you are doing, you can pay by the hour to use the facilities there in ‘Open Studio’ sessions. These are very friendly and the other potters there are always helpful and the atmosphere a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of the world. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome regardless of your experience. Highly recommended.

After watching the Great Pottery Throwdown, I was keen to start potting myself.I signed up to my first course with Roberto and have since completed a further 4 courses with various teachers. The courses are a great way to learn for both beginner and experienced potters. I have also used the open studio (tues/thurs/sat), where you can use all equipment and pay for the time used. A brilliant way to put into action everything you’ve learnt. There’s always someone on hand to advise, should you need help.I can’t recommend Pottery Gagliano highly enough.

This studio became a second home for me. I've been coming for nearly 4 years and I can't recommend it enough. Roberto and other staff create a warm, welcoming and inviting atmosphere for anyone and everyone of all ages and technical ability.Being at the studio I was surrounding by such a range of other ceramicists, creating great friends who pushed me to expand my mind and skill to become the artist I am today. Due to the all around amazing support and resources, starting from 4 years ago to today I've gone from being a beginner to now studying ceramics at Central St Martins Art School in London for a BA with Honers.I genuinely can't express the lengths of love I have for the studio, the ceramists who are there, the staff and the community that welcomed me.

A superb place to learn pottery, and having done courses elsewhere around the country, I can honestly say it's the best I've experienced. I've tried throwing on the wheel before and gave up - but at Pottery Gagliano I was hooked. Roberto is a master of his craft, but also an expert tutor with infinite patience to support beginners, breaking everything down into small steps. Great tuition from the other teachers too who are on hand to answer any questions during open studio sessions and always generous with their knowledge. The studio is beautifully equipped and organised, with everything you need to experiment with a wide range of techniques. Above all, Robert and his wife have managed to create a great community atmosphere, a space where you can share your pottery journey with others, deriving inspiration and motivation. We are incredibly lucky to have this resource in Brighton. I just wish I'd gone there sooner.

I’ve just finished a 9 week wheel course and have learnt so much. The studio is a fantastic place to learn. The tutor Amy was really supportive and we covered so much in a relatively short time. It was great to meet Roberto and benefit from his knowledge. I’ve made lots of friends and will really miss the weekly sessions. I’d really recommend taking the course and will be coming back for the open studios. Thank you so much.
