Jen Culley - Birth Services, Doula, and Placenta Encapsulation

What can we say about Jen? Just wow. We had been speaking with Jen about doing encapsulation but we weren’t due for another week so we hadn’t sorted it yet.Long story but that’s not how it was meant to happen. At late notice and out of usual hours Jen came to meet me with full instructions for myself and the midwives. As the partner - at the time Jen came to meet me I was naturally concerned about Mum and baby, we were off plan A and I was flustered, she had a chat with me tried to make me feel at ease about everything and simply explained the placenta encapsulation.She also did umbilical cord preservation. Which was given to us in a beautiful heart shape. She also did us a placenta print! Incredible and special keepsakes we will treasure forever.The capsules are basically tasteless and Mummy has been taking them. For us if we were going to have another child, we wouldn’t think twice about using Jen and doing the exact same Placenta wise! Thanks Jen all three of us are very grateful to you.

We recently used Jen as a Doula for my birth and postnatally and she was amazing!! My previous birth didn't quite go as I'd planned so we wanted the extra support this time around. Jen arranged lots of catch ups in the lead up to my birth and was very reassuring, helping me feel more positive about the experience. She even arranged a back up Doula as there was a small chance she would be on holiday if I went over my due date (luckily this didn't happen and she was able to attend the birth). During the birth itself she was a calm and reassuring presence and I ultimately got to have the natural birth I wanted in the Bluebell Centre at Warwick. She also came to visit after the birth and helped with feeding, naps and general chores around the house, I was even able to have a relaxing bath! Thank you Jen for everything!!

Hiring Jen as our doula was a great experience, and she comes with the highest recommendation. Having her guidance prior to and after the birth helped us plan and navigate the birth experience with peace of mind.We really appreciated that Jen provided links to research, and podcasts, that allowed us make informed decisions.We were lucky to be able to book Jen around week 34 (!), I'd definitely advise doing so earlier in the process!Had Jen not been present at a few key moments during birth we're convinced it would have gone differently.Thank you Jen!

Jen has helped me with breastfeeding advice for both of my babies. Her help as a lactation consultant with my newborn baby has been invaluable. She provided me with techniques to manage my engorgement and to ensure baby was feeding properly. Jen was a great support to me when I was disheartened by my baby loosing weight in her first few days but thanks to Jen’s help my baby gained weight well and I felt emotionally supported. Jen visited me at my home, she put me at ease straight away and her calm and kind nature helped me to feel reassured that I would be able to breastfeed my baby to meet her needs. I would highly recommend Jen to anyone looking for help or support with breastfeeding.

Great session with Jen and would highly recommend for both new parents or those that are expecting again. I learnt a lot with the breathing techniques and things to consider during birth which I didn’t appreciate the first time I had a baby. It definitely made me feel more empowered and I’m currently practicing the Hypnobirthing meditations by Jen. We took so much value away from the session that we decided in to invest in Jens doula services to support us for the upcoming birth of our second child. On a personal note, Jen is very bubbly, warm and approachable and she made us feel extremely safe and comfortable in her presence, she is also clearly very knowledgeable in her field. I really appreciated her pragmatic approach and way of working. If you are deciding whether to go to her Hypnobirthing workshops - please invest and go for it! You won’t regret it. It may be a decision that is the difference between having a good birth experience vs a traumatic one. I wish I met Jen when I was having my first child but very grateful I have done now for second time around! Thank you Jen for all your support!

Jen was amazing with her support for our second. We trusted her open minded-flexible and supportive approach. She helped us get to the right outcome for us with feeding and having access to her night support was reassuring in case we had a bad sleeper. Thank-you!

Jen facilitated me to have a wonderful healing pregnancy and birth. I’m forever grateful. Best money I’ve spent! I had previously had birth trauma related to prematurity and separation from my baby whilst he was being treated in neonatal intensive care unit. Jen was really sensitive to this during her work with us to prepare for our next birth. She supported us to make a plan for another premature baby and then once over gestation she supported us to make a term baby plan. Jen was really mindful of my vulnerability and pain relating to my last birth and checked in often. During my pregnancy we had a very active WhatsApp chain with updates, Podcast recommendations, advice etc. if ever I had a question Jen was on hand to provide me with evidence based response. She never pushed her own ideas around birth and instead supported my own wishes and hopes. In the end my birth happened very quickly so we didn’t get to hospital! Jen arrived in time to support my birth but the midwives didn’t. So I birthed in my bedroom with Jen as my birth partner. I was so grateful she was there but she kept a close distance (with touching me) and only stepped in at points when I clearly needed her. This was quite an art because it meant I essentially birthed and caught my baby myself (super proud!) but I never felt alone or interfered with. Even when the ambulance arrived Jen continued to guard my space and helped me to politely decline interventions which were not required. Jen knew I had medical trauma from spending 6 weeks in hospital with my first so when the ambulance asked to take me and baby to hospital she questioned that and requested midwives come to my home. They did and so my son has never been to hospital (yay) and after the birth I got into my own bed and order a takeaway pizza! Bliss. I have zero doubt that if I had not hired Jen I’d have ended up giving birth in my car/ at roadside and then going to hospital. Instead I had a very empowering healing birth which I am so proud of. Thank you JEN!!

I met Jen at an expectant mothers event that I recently went to. When my little one was a few days old I messaged Jen and asked if she could come and support me with my breastfeeding journey. She replied straight away and was able to come to my house the next day, which was amazing! She spent 90 minutes looking at latching, breastfeeding positions and a personalised approach for me. She was then on hand for advice and feedback at the end of the phone for the next week. It was really lovely knowing that I had support from someone with so much experience. I have now established the breastfeeding and am very grateful for having met Jen. I would recommend her to anyone to support them on their breastfeeding journey too!

Jen encapsulated my placenta for me and was absolutely brilliant from start to finish and came straight away to the hospital to pick up my placenta as we hadn’t managed to get the ice blocks in the freezer. The placenta capsules were brilliant plus beautifully packaged and I really felt like they were great for me and I will definitely be asking Jen to encapsulate my placenta again if I have any more babies ❤️ Also on top of that Jen is very knowledgeable on all things maternity and hypnobirthing and gave us some invaluable advice along the way. Couldn’t recommend her enough!

It’s hard to find the words to reflect how invaluable Jen was during our pregnancy and birth. The knowledge she provided during the 1:1 hypnobirthing course (which was from our house and at a time to suit us) was relevant, up to date and helped us to feel prepared. It also gave us an opportunity to build up a relationship with Jen so by the birth we felt we knew each other well and we trusted her implicitly. Coming up against unexpected hurdles in pregnancy Jen provided a constant source of knowledge and support. She helped us navigate a difficult system and even acted as a support and advocate during consultations prior to the birth. All of the above ultimately contributed to an incredibly positive birth experience which was invaluable for mum and baby going forwards. We felt in control throughout and able to think through decisions together as they arose. We honestly believe that without Jens support throughout this would not have been the case. Post birth Jen continued to support us through visits and regular calls and messages. Her knowledge, experience and early support post birth helped us to establish breastfeeding. We will never be able thank her enough for the role she played in the arrival of our 1st baby and the weeks following, and the lasting effect this will have on us all as a family.
