Glen Caring

Not impressed by the service in Newtownstewart!!!! Don't mean Glenn Caring itself.Putting a grown woman to bed at 8.30pm each night.No times are consistent for the clients..... They change like the wind.Its a waste of time putting a care plan in place......all in a rush.It's quite understandable for it to happen occasionally as things do happen....like double runs but not night after night.When it's sorted it never lasts as things are certainly not done to suit or please the clients but for others.Waste of time having meetings also as things are short lived.Consistency would be nice...... If it were happen

Not impressed by what I hear about some carers I would not use them to care for a loved one

Always lovely carers form my Father in Omagh.

I was unfortunate to have to avail of the services of glen caring (waterside) as they were the only care provider available when my father left hospital. Thankfully to cctv in my fathers room (for his safety) I witnessed my father be subjected to abuse by Yvonne, Catherine and on 41 different occasions!This first came to light when I found unexplained bruising on my father…this lead to me then checking my cctv camera footage to get more of an understanding as to what was going on with my fathers care or lack of. I firstly witnessed my father being verbally abused by said carers through them referring to my father as “ponging and smelly.” This was all said to my father directly and completely demoralised and embarrassed my father as you could imagine.Hygiene was another huge issue I encountered with Glen caring. I have CCTV footage of said carer using the same gloves that she had used to change my father to then feed my father! Certain staff never changed gloves between tasks which is basic hygiene and complete disregard for his needs. In all instances my father was not a priority by these carers. My father was an inconvenience if anything, calling for attention and being ignored as said carers were constantly talking about other families that they cared for. I was shocked to hear personal and sensitive information being divulged. In fact in instances the said carers were laughing about other clients mental health, their relationships and marriages, I could go on!In my opinion Yvonne and Catherine (waterside team) should not be allowed to work with vulnerable people.When I showed all this footage to the Glen Caring management I got an apology in writing for the awful treatment that my father was subjected to, they were appalled at other service users data being breached. However, within weeks we were having issues yet again. I raised my concerns again and insisted that those carers do not come into my fathers home again. Glen caring agreed with this, however I was informed by management almost immediately after my last complaint that they would have to terminate the contract as they did not have carers available to replace the two that needed to be removed.I would like to say that the other carers that came into my fathers home which were Neil, Bridget, Lauren, Janice and Lorraine treated my father with the greatest respect. It is such a shame for the other vulnerable people that Yvonne and Catherine are a part of this team. Only for the cctv footage I would have never witnessed this, the sad thing about it is that they were very aware that the camera was there.If you also are in the unfortunate position that you also have to use Glen caring as a care provider i would most definitely suggest getting CCTV for your own piece of mind!I have had carers providing care for my father for the past 4 years & I have never came across or witnessed such a lack of dignity and respect for their clients as I have witnessed from Glencaring , waterside Derry/Londonderry.
