I've looked at the reviews and you have to be honest. This is a predominantly local authority located residents so it's not the Ritz's. My Mum has been here for over 2yrs and yes there are odd people here....smells but it's a home for older residents. You have to look with better eyes. The staff are trying their hardest....they are kind and caring, attentive. The food is not Michelin star but the staff try to make all the residents happy. The thing is they are safe....that is paramount for me. I will not diss people who are doing their hardest to make what time is left, they work bloody hard. Would you do their job....? Sadly my father passed away in the sister home but the staff were there for him.

Where do I start, spencefeild grange is diffenelty a care home you should never sent your relatives too. My partners grandma went in for respite for 2 weeks. We brought all brand new clothes. And as for her new clothes it's nice that they only gave us a few bits back so we have to replace all her clothes.. even though it was all brand new. When we went to get her to take her home. She was wearing what looks like to me was a mans polo and some other woman's slippers. Which is wrong anyway there's no organisation within the staff once I told them about the missing clothes. They said she thrown them out her bedroom window however that being said they only found 1 top out side.. so I have to now go back to the grange and hopefully they have her other clothing, the slippers they gave her was almost 2 size to small, Which has made her ankels swell massively. Her physical state wasn't looked at all, all the staff do is lie and lie to make them self's look good... I now have to get a doctor out to check her over as they just neglected her whilst she was there. Also her mobile phone went out of her draw still haven't got an answer from the care home to where it has gone. The situation has upset my partner and her family I strongly advise you NOT to use this care home as you'll only get upset and angry with them. Please tell other friends and family NOT to use them. All the staff there just don't care about the people in there they only care about making there job as easy as possible. If I could give it 0 stars I would have hopefully my review makes people think twice about using this so call Care" home."

I work at Spencefield Grange as a carer, how can people say that our residents are not being looked after. We as carers work really hard to make sure that our residents are looked after very well.If people have a problem with our caring skills then I think they should ring and speak to our manger before resorting to websites like these. Our manger is very approachable so if you have a genuine reason to complain then feel free to call her. Thanks Gemma Sutton

I would not recommend this to anyone. The thought of anyone else leaving their elderly relative in this place breaks my heart. My nan was placed there for 7 months as she was living alone and developed vascular dementia. I took the responsibility on to be her full time carer so she could live back at home. While I visited her in there I noticed many problems. Her physical health dropped. They did nothing for her. I have had her back home for almost 6 months now. She has put weight on. Looks a thousand times healthier. As a career I am eligible to 4 weeks a year of respite. This is where she can be cared for in a home for me to have a little break. As much as I didn't want to leave her. I decided it might be for the best. So I could have a break and be the best I could for her. I left for two weeks. Her case worker decided to send her to Spencefield grange. I went and picked her up today to find. None of her toiletries I sent her in with had been used. She has not brushed her teeth in too weeks. Washed her hair. Or even been dressed properly. 3/4 of her clothes have magically gone missing. When I asked a member's of staff where they had gone. I got a blank face. Not one single person could tell me. Then they tried to blame this on my nan. Saying she had thrown them out of the window. So I took it on my own back to go and have a look. I found nothing. So the staff had lied. I have given them 24 hours to find everything. Which really isn't ideal for me as my nan has to be with me at all times. Dragging her out is not easy. Her condition leaves her really confused. I have noticed her ankles are swollen and red. Not one member of staff thought to tell me? Now I have had to go to the hospital and get everything checked out. She will not eat anything. She's so much more confused. I am extremely upset. To think I can't leave her in the hands of so call professionals is a joke. Please anyone that is thinking of sending their love ones there think again. I have now given them 48 hours to return the clothes back to me and I have received nothing. When I went into collect I had a meeting which didn't help anything. They took my number and said they would ring me back that day, I have heard nothing. Which honestly does not surprise me. The whole place is a complete joke . It's almost been 3 weeks since my nan has been back home and I've only received half of her belongings back. I've now had to buy her new things. So much for a phone call.

Would not reommend this place my father passed away in there some time ago, wish we had taken him out of there. Most of the staff didn't give a dam , could have been cleaner ,and the food was not good, does not deserve even one star. It still hurts to think of him there.

Went to home few times my Anti room was so badly smelling that I told the staff and she says can't go any thing about it. I told her tell your manager if you can't do any thing then it's not the care and I will have to report to other authorities.

I have worked at this care home for over 2 years as a carer and the care staff work extremely hard to make sure the residents are looked after and made comfortable. We also try our best to be very welcoming. Like it has already been said if you have a genuine complaint or an issue then it should be taken up with our manager. She is approachable and will help you with your complaint. Thanks.
