Paid £85 for a 1.5hour “full groom” to have our majestic Samoyed looking like a joke.Have taken our now 8 months old Samoyed puppy here for grooming 5-6 times. And the latest groom have been really disappointing. I realised this when I got home and I’ve no idea why, how and what they have done to my dogs fur around his tail. (See pictures)The groom prior to this one, our puppy came back constantly licking his private part and we saw slight bleeding on his private part, he recovered after a few days so we didn’t think much of it.The price went from £65 to £75 which is understandable as our puppy grew in size. However, we were charged an extra £10 on top of the £75 on the previous groom prior to the latest one. Reason being “the undercoat was so tangled they had to get 3 groomers to brush down” even though the full groom service includes undercoat removal. Plus we brush our Samoyed every other day, but we thought perhaps we didn’t brush thoroughly enough? so we paid the extra £10 as good gesture. But this time, we specifically brushed our Samoyed prior to the groom, and they charged us £85 again (despite the joke of an outcome) and the reason this time was “oh that’s what we charged last time! And he’s growing and is becoming bigger, the prices are going to keep going up more and more and eventually £100+” Ok firstly, last time was coz of the claimed extra brushing, and secondly, the previous groom was 3 weeks ago, and our 8 month puppy weighed 21kg then and is 21.5kg now. I wouldn’t call that “grown in size” so they were just assuming he’s grown and makes it an excuse to charge extra. I’ve seen other reviews where other customers had the same experience where they get random price spikes at the end of the groom with some not so convincing reasons. They used to have clear pricing on their website which they have now removed. I wonder why.I wouldn’t mind paying the price tag if the service was good and up to standard, but judging by my dogs fur and the attitude of the staff, I’m not happy at all with this.

The team at Purplebone are amazing - they took such great care of my dog and gave him a fantastic cut. If you're looking for a dog groomer - these guys are the best. They also stock a great range of dog accessories.

EDIT: Using an excuse how our dog tried to bite? Please, how did you manage to shave his hair off so much then? We will gladly find a new place, thank you!Went from best to worst. Extremely upset, will never go back again. He had the best haircut with a lady who has since left Purplebone. Ever since then it has gone from bad to worst. You can clearly see from the before picture he looked much better before the haircut. The haircut literally ruined the shape of his face and we specifically requested someone with the most experience in the salon. WILL NEVER BE RETURNING BACK HERE AGAIN.

We had our 10 years old female border terrier hand-stripped today. She came back absolutely gorgeous and Bill who did the hand-stripping was so nice with her. He did a real wonderful job. What else, we love the smell of the organic shampoo. Well done purplebone.

Purplebone - and the lovely Ruth - did a great job with our wonderful two Cavapoos - Grace and Harry. They were happy to be there and had a great time, which is one of the most important things for us as I am sure grooming can be stressful for a dog... Ruth also did a great job with their grooming and they returned looking very beautiful. Thank you!

I have been to Purplebone many times before and was always happy with the groom and customer service. This was my first time going back post-covid. Apart from the downsizing (store front no longer exists) and a complete change of staff and groomers, I also noticed the attitude of both of the receptionist and the groomers has changed. I was told that there is a lot of mitt and it’s going to take 2 hours for the groom which is fine but when I came back my poor Pom was shaved down to almost nothing. We have never shaved her fur to such extent and I hope she doesn’t loose her beautiful fur for ever. All in all, it was very hard to book (and I think they have since shut down online booking as well) , very expensive and the experience was quite unpleasant. I do hope the management (if it’s still owned by the same people) will take customer complaints into consideration and bring back the good service pre-covid.

Wilbur has been groomed at Purplebone most of his 10 year-old life. First of all he had the lovely Ben, then the delightful Marta, but now he has the brilliant Billy. As a rule, Wilbur gives the store in Notting Hill Gate a very wide berth, not madly favouring a shampoo, cut and blow dry, but this time he ran in! Billy groomed him last time too and he came out looking magnificent with his parsnip tail and chrysanthemum head and goodness, does he know it. He shows off to everybody. Everyone at Purplebone is delightful and very friendly and Wilbur knows it too. Thank you Billy for making Wilbur look so handsome and we will look forward to seeing you the next time.To date Wilbur has reached over 8,000 Google hits with Purplebone and has had yet another cracking groom, although I have to say Billy is the Best!

Purple bone did a truly great job with our puppy Chloe, it was her first proper groom and she came away with a beautiful haircut! The staff there were excellent and great at putting her at ease given it was her first time, thank you Billy!

I love Purplebone Chelsea, they are always friendly with my dog Ruby(ruby_the_cavapoo on insta - sorry ...shameless plug) and have the best suggestion for how to feed and play with your pet. We took Ruby for her first grooming today and she looks spectacular. The grooming was so timely and professional, I knew Ruby was in good hands.

At first, “ Very professional. My puppy’s first grooming and we loved it very much. He smells like coconut afterwards. While waiting for his grooming, we had a lovely brunch around the corner. Perfect way to start a weekend.”——Sadly, after the first time the experience getting worse every time. We stopped going there, mainly due to the tactics they like to use to guilt trip customers, as mentioned by other customers.A good business should focus on how to provide a great service so that your customers are willingly and happily paying you more, rather than how to pressurise or guilt trip customers to pay you more. The latter cannot last long.
