Drove up to see Holy Island and Bamburgh on a hot July weekend. Amazingly the traffic on the A1 was fine and there was no delay in crossing the causeway to the island. Truly beautiful place and well worth the drive. On an evening it takes on an otherworldly almost Wicker Man feel.

Absolutely brilliant day out. Great friendly community. Can buy homemade bun, cakes, honey, fruit and various of spreads. Plenty of views and areas to walk. No problem leaving prams on one side and come back for it. Best to take a picnic and be aware of tide times. Best to park in car park as a first time visitor like we did. Gets busier as the day goes on.

Holy Island Beach
A small curved beach on the beautiful Holy Island. The beach is adjacent to a small working fishing harbour, which adds to its charm. The 'sand' can be be pretty muddy so it's not the best for children to play on, but the dunes and grass at the head of the beach are just fine for a picnic. The beach area is hard to miss if you visit the population centre of Holy Island.

Had a wonderful day out at holy island, the best part was... we misread the tide timing, we got stuck for 2hrs plus. But was able to explore the island more. Went to the local shop, brought some jam and also had a hot chocolate. Own downfall is nothing halal there, please take food with you. The fish and chip van sales person was super kind explained they used lard in the oil so wouldn't be suitable for us. The island shops are super friendly and honest. One of the cafe made us just chesse and butter sandwiches :)

We visited this beautiful place on a warm misty morning when a sea fret came over the island.Which added a mystery and eeriness to our experience. It was like we were in a dream…We spent around 4 hrs on the island but could have easily spent the whole day walking around and seeing more of it as we only spent our time on the Southern edge.Would definitely consider coming again. A wonderful place. So peace and calm for walks and exploring. Please make sure you check the tide times on the website to make safe crossing there and back.
