Brighton Rocks Guitar Lessons

I have played guitar for 20 years and have had a fair few guitar teachers in that time. Matt from Brighton Rocks is far and above the best I have ever had. He's an amazingly talented player across all genres from shred-metal and classic rock to blues, jazz and beyond. But more importantly, he is a brilliant teacher and it is obvious from the moment you meet him that he genuinely enjoys teaching too. I have had 9 lessons (so far) and my playing-level has gone through the roof. Matt was instantly able to point out a couple of bad habits (stop doing that, do this instead) and give me a couple of 'easy wins', i.e. things I could technically do but never realised I could do them (here, try this). He explained music theory very well and gave me good exercises to build speed and other technique-aspects. He can also give some good gear-advice too if you're after that. Though I came to him as an intermediate/advanced player, I'm pretty certain he'd also make a great teacher for beginners. Long story short: no matter what aspect of guitar-playing you're working on, you'd struggle to find a better guitar teacher this side of Nashville! He's also a lovely guy and his pricing and 'terms' are very fair. Recommend 110%!

I would highly recommend Matt for lessons. My son has been having lessons for over a year now and originally with David from his company and Matt himself. They are both amazing teachers which really inspired and helped my son to learn how to read music and play the guitar. He has learnt so much and it is wonderful to hear my son play music for me. Matt is friendly, enthusiastic, encouraging and such a great teacher!

Matt is a great teacher and a thoroughly lovely bloke, full of patience for those of us who don’t practice as much as we should (!). Lessons are always fun and I learn something new every week. Would thoroughly recommend him if you’re thinking of learning the guitar.

Matt Love is a fantastic guitar teacher. He will provide you the basics to get started, and then completely make the lesson about what you want to play. Matt is also a great guy who has an incredible talent for the guitar that he is able to share.

No need to look further: I’ve been taking lessons with Matt for about 6 months in a group with 2 other beginners and he is awesome. Super friendly but planned and structured lessons means I have a good time but have genuinely progressed. When I started lessons I was struggling with basic chords and changing from one chord to another. Since then we have covered basic chords, power chords, bar chords, a bit of theory (good for me as this is completely new), finger picking and heaps more. Some really cool practical bits: 1) Matt’s funny, 2) Lessons are always planned in advance so when you attend there is a structure, 3) Matt has a lot of guitars in his house so for new people this means you can have a go on his which is really cool if you’re not sure what you want / want to try other guitars, 4) things are flexible and you can ask for what you want. As a group we decided we wanted to do a bit of theory one lesson so literally just did that. And finally 5) I have taken face to face lessons and virtual lessons with Matt. The virtual lessons are brilliant. I was not convinced at first but there are some real pros to this. Basically he is a goodie. Enjoy!

Matt is a great teacher, he has got me playing songs that I would never have thought possible, the group lessons are great, it really helps having extra input, suggestions and ideas. Matt has helped with my understanding of TAB and is always available if I have any questions.I would highly recommend Matt, the lessons are very thorough and most importantly fun !
