Ghyll Royd School, Pre-School, Nursery & Prep School

The school is a fabulous learning environment. The teachers are so good at engaging the children, the curriculum is varied and challenging and the class sizes mean the children get any individual attention that they may need. Our child continues to thrive at Ghyll Royd.

Starting with the headteacher, a culture of focus on the individual student permeates through the entire staff. It is a school that is completely committed to each and every student within their care. We have two young kids at Ghyll Royd and they have both flourished which is due to the fact that their needs are tailored for. Most importantly, they love going to school here! The grounds are fantastic and even the chef receives rave reviews . It is a positive and encouraging environment and we are proud to be a part of this amazing community.

My daughter has had the most wonderful experience at Ghyll Royd's Pre-School and loved every minute or learning. The learning takes place inside and outside of the classroom, giving the young learners chance to explore and discover what they love. The are a creative school and my daughter enjoys learning through music and sounds. She has progressed so much whilst been at Ghyll Royd in confidence, physical and vocal abilities, resilience and communication. I could not recommend the school enough.

I have 2 children at the school and they love every minute, even though the school is small compared to most, it has definitely benefited my children. The small classes allow for more help and guidance. The teachers and headmaster are very committed to the students and make learning fun. The outdoor space is a huge bonus and very much encourages outdoor learning. I never have to worry about my children whilst they under the care and guidance of Ghyll Royd.

Extremely impressed and pleased with Ghyll Royd Pre-School and Nursery. I have two children attending at the moment, both started soon after turning two and one of them will be starting school in September. They provide excellent care and with the nursery being attached to an independent primary school, they can take advantage of all their facilities such as the music room, sports hall and extensive grounds

We have three children at Ghyll Royd who are all super happy. In particular we love how small the school is, with a real family feel and nurturing staff. The children see school as home from home! The children do 10 hours of PE a week and lots of outdoors activities, as well as tonnes of art and creative subjects. Academically they are all thriving too!

Easily the best school and nursery around. Both my children aged 3.5 and nearly 10 are doing so well and full of confidence in the learning. It really is so welcoming and a kind and caring place

Ghyll Royd is a fantastic school, and we decided to send our daughter here from a young age because of the schools ethos, amazing SAT results and everything they have to offer. They have fantastic outdoor facilities and offer a wide range of extra curricular activities, sports and creative arts. The wonderful staff have encouraged and supported my daughter's academic and personal growth from preschool and are now preparing her for the move to high school. We are very proud to be part of Ghyll Royd and cannot recommend this school enough!

My little boy started Ghyll Royd Pre-School, Great Explorers class in September 2020. I was anxious because of covid and not being able to attend the usual settling in visits with him, however, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and made him feel safe, secure and loved from day one. They’ve helped him to grow in confidence and he’s made some lovely friendships. He has never looked back and absolutely loves going, running in most mornings without so much as a goodbye to us at drop-off. He is thriving academically and always comes home talking about learning his alphabet letters and sounds as well as adventures in the woods for outdoor learning and most importantly, what Chef Sean has cooked for lunch that day! ☺️ We are very happy parents because our son is so happy at school. Thank you to all at Ghyll Royd for making it a happy and inviting place to be and for making our son’s first year at pre-school a memorable one.

Ghyll Royd really sums up what is good about education; it gives the children a well rounded and broad foundation. It providers excellent teachers and helps all the children achieve their personnel best. It achieves great academic results but that is only part of the picture, I believe the real success of the School can be shown in the well- rounded, thoughtful, intelligent and questioning minds which leave at the end of year six.
