Caledonian Roofing

Called Caledonian in February of 2018 to repair a leaking flat roof. The ‘new’ roof leaked even more with the next rain. I called the 24/7 emergency line and got no answer despite trying repeatedly. Fortunately I had not paid at this time and they begrudgingly came out the following day to ‘fix’ it. This cost me £680. Now in 2020 the roof is leaking badly again. Apparently the company is under new management but the owner claims to have contacted the previous owner, Clive, who is denying any knowledge of doing the job and neither of them will fix this botched job. I contacted another roofer who told me that the new roof was totally inadeqate with only one layer of felt which hadn’t been sealed down properly. He also told me that copper was missing from the roof. Please be careful to research any company you want to hire as it could cost you a lot of money and leave you in a worse position than you were originally in. Beware of cowboys!!

Leaving 1 star as 0 stars isn't an option, was quoted a load of work that would get done, in that price, a scaffolding was quoted, no such scaffolding appeared, work was supposedly done in a day where nobody in a block of 6 saw them, few weeks later, rain fell and no issues had been resolved so I got back in touch, they responded promptly to this, which i thought was great at the time, said they would send someone out to have another look, I was told by a neighbour 1 person turned up with a slate and a ladder, went on roof and put the slate god knows where, issues still not resolved so I've been back in touch, several times, with no reply. I even suggested someone should probably come into the flat to see where the water comes in from, rather than blindly going on the roof and repairing random slates, but, again, no reply.

Fabulous job done and couldn't have picked a better company to do the job. The Caledonian team were so experienced and the tidiest workers ever!! Would have them back anytime but they did such a good job I wont need them. Bring on winter!

My roof was leaking and I had been let down by another roofer but Caledonian were quick to respond even though they were extremely busy and it was close to Christmas. Everything was clearly explained including price. Professional from start to finish. Would recommend.

A truly professional company with great workmanship and good reliable staff . Barry is a thoroughly decent and reliable man who I have no hesitation in recommending for big or small jobs. His reroofing job has been complimented by neighbours and friends.

August 4th 2020. A horrible day with torrential rain BUT, I have some fantastic news for anyone looking for a decent, honest roofer. Despite my last review, Barry from Caledonian has been back in touch with me and has come out personally to repair the roof that the previous owners of Caledonian botched. I am delighted to say that the new Caledonian Roofers did a wonderful job and went above and beyond to ensure that the work was of the highest standards. The new owner of Caledonian has my thanks and gratitude for saving my roof and my sanity and I would have no hesitation recommending this new and improved company to the paying public. Apparently a 10 year whole roof guarantee. Charged £3k for some repairs, but thankfully they managed to turn 1 leak into 6 then got aggressive when asked if they could come back to fix it. Turns out the apprentice forgot to seal the edges. Repair was carried out and they did drop the attitude. The original leak is much worse than it was, but the new ones have stopped at least.Rather that get intimidated again I called another roofing company who highly criticised the workmanship. They peeled back a repaired section due to movement and found severe wet and dry rot underneath. The section of flat roof I had been taken up to and watched Caledonian stamping on (and bouncing) to demonstrate the quality of their repair was not supported by anything with a 15foot drop underneath.Not very good, and I got “salesman’s” into a overpriced dodgy repair. Probably fine to patch up a garden shed, but don’t let them near anything of value.
