About the Business

Mountbatten Hampshire | Mountbatten Hampshire was formerly known as Countess Mountbatten Hospice. Most of our work takes place in people's homes across Southampton and large parts of Hampshire. Our expert teams provide 24/7 support to patients living in their own homes and on our inpatient unit at our hospice in West End, Southampton. We also provide self-help and bereavement support. We have six shops - located in Weeke (near Winchester), Romsey, West End, Hedge End, Above Bar Street (Southampton) and Shirley. Each year, we must raise around £10 million to continue providing our services; we hold fundraising events throughout the year and we are grateful to our amazing local communities who give donations and support through volunteering.

My Grandad was in this hospice and was very fond of Linda and Donna! Two very lovely ladies! The staff altogether were brilliant and extremely supportive. A tranquil and peaceful place. Thank you everyone!

Truly carring staff that did everything possible to give my dearest friend Zoe, dignified, thorough and gentle nursing towards the end of her awful cancer. Every time I think of the CMH it’s with admiration at the work they do.Thank you to everyone that works and volunteers there, you do an extremely difficult job to the highest of standards.Stuart Cole

We had an appalling experience with very uncaring night staff, I raised a complaint with the director of nursing but we were never apologised to. We were also told all sorts of things, to prevent any further occurrence of our horrible treatment, would be put in place but it didn't happen. There are some wonderful staff there but sadly spoiled by a few heartless ones who make such a difficult time so much harder .

Poor experience with outreach team, lack of care leaving my friends husband to call out in agony. Refusal by DNs attached via the hospice to come out a give medication to calm him as they were due back 4 hours later and refused to come out twice in a short period of time.As myself and the wife of patient are nurses it was suggested we give opioids . An unprofessional suggestion . No help given for 20 agonising days ,except one night .His poor wife is an emotional wreck , and will never get over this experience, her abiding memory of her husband will be these last few hedious days.No duty of care given on information on funding . How could you buy in fast track care if you're not told your entitlement and the funding is not supplied quickly?

Unfortunately our recent experience of the mountbatten hospice was not a good one. We did not find the atmosphere welcoming to family and loved ones. Some staff members were very caring and supportive but others seemed to look apon visitors as an annoyance and inconvenience. Nightime care was unfortunately less diligence than during the day.
