MOTEST Brighton

Had a mot booked which failed I re booked it. After 10 days and it passed with a few minors.. 2. Days later the whole car suspension COLLAPSED with such bad corrosion which is a main part Of the MOT which could have been fatal if I was on a motorway!! They took no acceptance that it was their fault !!!

DO NOT USE. I'm an ex-engineer and now work for an airline. My mother-in-law used the garage in Brighton for two tyres and front disc & pads. Six weeks later, the VW UP required a new clutch. This was installed at a local garage to me. The mechanic on pickup explained that when the car was on the ramp to change the clutch, the two front wheels were removed for access to the gearbox. This garage did not touch the brakes, as changing the clutch would not require them to do so. The mechanic asked me where my 78-year-old mother-in-law had the brakes changed since the hub had been damaged from the left front. We can only assume when removing the old disc, the retaining screw was rusty, and they drilled it out. By doing this, they damaged the hub. On replacement of the new disc, no retaining screw was installed. At no point did MOTEST Brighton explain to the owner they had damaged the vehicle. I complained to the area manager, and to be fair to him, he corresponded and was very polite. However, despite bringing the car back for them to inspect (wasting two hours), MOTEST blame the mechanic's that installed the clutch and will not take responsibility. They only offered to do the work at cost, but we would have to pay for the parts! I've spoken to Trading Standards and reported the incident, plus sent photographs and video as evidence. My opinion only, but if a garage is willing to do this to a pensioner, I'd suggest they are avoided.

Had a great experience with MOTEST this week, have used them for MOTs in years past and always felt very comfortable (which is not always the case as a woman dealing with garages sadly!). They are honest, friendly and good value and dealt with the issues to get my van through its MOT at a very reasonable price.

Fine at doing MOTs, but shocking at scheduling and providing decent customer service. First retest I went in, I was 7 minutes late as I was delayed picking up my daughter from nursery, and they completely refused to test my car that day. I was slightly late, fine. They provided me with another date and time to come in. When I do arrive, the same guy decides to tell me it's passed the legal retest date and they haven't got enough time or people to do another full MOT. No apology for scheduling me in on the wrong date and somehow made it out like it was all my fault. Probably just wanted me to pay for another MOT. I've been coming here for years and really disappointed with the customer service provided by the man who's now working in the reception.

This place is brilliant - staff really honest and not trying to fleece you like in our other experiences! Looked at my van and ran tests on it for over an hour, couldn't find anything wrong, and insisted I didn't need to pay. The previous garage had given me an eye-watering quote for a part that apparently we didn't really need. Would totally trust and recommend.

Took our car in for a diagnostics check as we weren't sure what the warning meant. They were very thorough and professional throughout. Will definitely be using MOTEST again in the future.

Don't know if I just caught that guy on a bad day but he ripped my phone holder off, probably because he thought it blocks the speedo but there's a digital one in front.Lied loads on the MOT, hand break completely fine etc... I bought a bulb for the break light and turned up 25 minutes early so I could pay someone to fit it, they refused and then took the keys of me so I couldn't do it. Saying they have a tight slot but still didn't start until 12.Just a horrible experience and wish I went with my gut and walked out as soon as I got there, NOT HAPPY.

I'm never going anywhere else. So efficient. I only booked it in yesterday. I was allowed to park all day while I went to work. Was booked in for 1.30 but got a call at 10.30 to tell me the outcome. So impressed
