Very friendly place

What a little-known gem of a place!Friendly and open to everyone, historically a ‘conservative club’, these days welcoming to visitors of all, or any, or of no political persuasion, this increasingly well-tended treasure has a pretty front lawn as well as massive and lovingly maintained riverside garden at the back.Facilities galore include an especially good pool table, a skittle alley upstairs and another downstairs, a snooker room with 2 full sized tables (and rows of ancient cues, some still locked in place with little rusty padlocks and undoubtedly long-lost keys), it has function rooms for hire, excellent selection of low-priced drinks, beers on tap, and the whole amazing place has a unique and quirky feel.While still rather 'museum-like' in many areas, Manager Jason and team recently seem to be pulling all the stops out to rapidly refurbish the tired old décor and develop the beautiful gardens and building both inside and out.Restoration of its own jetty is even later planned, so boaters can visit direct from the river.Over 50 years in Bath before I even came to realise this place existed, warm and affable staff and customers alike – one of our new, very favourite watering holes in the whole of the city. Lovely club in a great location with cheap prices and a welcoming atmosphere. I go on Thursdays with a gaming group and they are always really accommodating, even if we are a bit loud sometimes.

Wasn't sure we could get in but they're very friendly and opened the back up so we could sit outside looking over the river Avon , the place really needs a refurb but it is what it is and I find the it's people that help make a place memorable.

Very large venue, pool tables and a Hugh garden, very reasonable prices
