Merlin Point - UNINN Student Accommodation

I had a fantastic time staying at MerlinPoint. The rooms are just like little apartments - very modern, clean, spacious and cosy. Some even offer a great view. The staff is very friendly, helpful and most of the time available. I can everyone highly recommend staying here over the duration of your studies.

I have been living at this accommodation for four years now, and it is safe to say that Merlin Point is one of the best student accommodations in Coventry. Fantastic rooms, lovely social spaces and maintenance are done quickly and to a good standard. The staff at Merlin Point are so friendly and welcoming! They are attentive to your needs and show that they care. It is a lovely place to be, right in the centre of Coventry.

My honest review of Merlin Point, Coventry.This place is perfectly fine to live in if you're a student. The manager is a nice person and the staff are helpful. I lived in a studio. I'll list pros and cons below:***Pros***+ Good location, parking options are available+ Close to centre and to both universities+ Modern accommodation with all fittings, highly secure and no dodgy landlord to deal with+ *Generally* quiet at night. Very good sound-proofing although could sometimes hear neighbours but onlyif very very loud+ VERY nice and professional manager, who tries to help you with your problems, staff are ok+ Overall, livable and ok experience. Secure and reliable experience. Will be reliably ok for anyone to live here without any significant worries.***Cons***- **No onsite security after-hours**So, you have to wait like 40-60 mins for security to arrive for a call-out. Not good enough, esp. when someone is being noisy (not often, but sometimes). The manager says 10 minutes but that is not the case. And means you wait ages (20-40 mins) when fire alarm goes off for someone to attend and turn it off. Even when he does get there, he is usually not pleased at being called up, particularly for complex issues. Essentially calling security is not so constructive, you should try to go through the manager to report issues. This can sometimes make it difficult to solve specific issues.- **Can get quite warm in room even in winter**Slightly limited airflow into room. This is ok in winter, spring and autumn, but you will need to keep your window open, use a tower fan next to window, etc. Then it should be chilly/ok, don't worry too much. I dunno about summer. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST you do NOT book a room facing the sunlight, it may get too hot. Unfortunately your room may not have much natural light coming in if you do this. You just cannot win. It's not the end of the world but it's really not ideal.- **Weird window cage blocks view and restricts air flow slightly**Further to above, window has weird cage around it, and doesn't open very far... You cannot get much air in, you have to wait a while sometimes (1 hour) before air comes in. Have to keep window open when you're not around to get airflow. Again not a big issue but I had to figure it out, had to keep window open all the time to fix it.- **Frequent fire alarms that are basically people burning their toast or cooking paper**Fire alarm goes off very frequently in evening, at least twice a week, because many people sadly don't know how to cook... I wouldn't mind this if there was on-site security to switch the alarm off quickly but there isn't. So you wait a while, as I said above, for guard to arrive and switch it off. Overall not that bad but quite annoying sometimes.- **Imo lack of community**I personally found there to be a lack of community. No one wanted to talk to me, very rarely did my neighbors want to chat. Luckily I talked to people at uni - at least there is community there.- **Cost**Quite expensive. I paid 165 per week which was discounted (?)- **((Initial)) loud cladding installation**Before I moved in they did not tell me they were doing a long noisy cladding removal. This went on from 9-5 every day for about a year. At night there was no cladding removal, but people were moving in and I could hear many loud noises e.g. boxes and unpacking many things. So it was difficult, I didn't sleep well for the first two weeks.They have now finished cladding removal. So it was not a problem after a couple of weeks, not a big issue, but still minor annoyance at times.*** Conclusion ***Conclusion: expect it to be a nice modern accomodation with good links to uni by bus, you can also park and take your car. This is ok place to live, rough around the edges but overall fine

I lived here for an entire year. It's a friendly place where you could enjoy the cleaness and quietness. Further more, it's 100% safe.

Great Student Accommodation

Near the uni and bus station. Quiet and safe. Rooms have good viewings of coventry city. Lovely Place

Flatmates constantly stealing food.Seriously suggest not to live here, will drives you crazy sooner or laterOver priced compared to other student accommodations nearby

The shared kitchen is large and the staff is friendly.

工作人员很贴心。有自动售货机，可以随时买点小零食。另外离学校的图书馆和其他设施就在隔壁，超市市中心火车站什么的也在5分钟路程之内。
