The Royal Oak
Sunday lunch damn, best we've ever had. Piled high selection of rare beef, chicken, melt in the mouth pork, crackling, large roasties and Yorkshires, real gravy. Served with loads veg, greens, peas, beans cabbage and bacon, roasted root vegetables. It's well worth the money, good atmosphere very good staff. If you want Sunday lunch come here! Hot horseradish!

Went here for the Sunday Roast platter as it was my mother’s birthday. Booking was easy over the phone, I needed to add an extra person to our table. I left a message on the pubs answerphone and received a text confirmation so communication and booking was a good experience. The car park is huge so no issues with parking, decent surface too so no worries about mud, puddles or car damage! There isn’t much choice on a Sunday, you pretty much know you’re going for the Sunday roast; although there are variations for vegetarians etc.Upon entering the pub it’s really well done in the style of a traditional English country pub; it’s very aesthetically pleasing. The staff were warm and welcoming, the bar is right in front of you as you enter which means drinks were quickly ordered for us.We set up a tab and proceeded to our table which was in a large open area of the pub which at a guess would have been the skittle alley at some point in the past. Again it was done out very nicely, clean decent tables and chairs; just a pleasant environment to relax in.The Sunday roast platter was reasonably quick to arrive, here they do serve it up on a platter, you then help yourself to what you want. Separate dishes for veg and gravy are provided. We did have to ask for extra apple sauce etc as we were only provided with one small pot which wasn’t going to cater for a table of 6. The friendly staff did bring us a lot more when asked. We were served 2 platters between the 6 of us, for me there wasn’t really enough meat, roast potatoes and parsnips but for others on our table they thought there was plenty. The food itself was great quality! Loved it.We then proceeded into desserts and finally coffees; a decent selection of both are available from the Sunday menu. I had the triple chocolate brownie with ice cream which was excellent.Whilst we were sat inside due to the weather it is worth noting this pub has a great covered outdoor area with some lovely views. Would love to come back in the summer and sit out there with some bar snacks and a drink! On the whole based on my experience I would totally recommend this pub for a Sunday lunch, I hope to return during the week to sample the ‘normal’ menu soon.

The Sunday Roast is always spot on! The concept of a sharing board/platter works well and makes this place unique. Consistent food and service and thoroughly enjoy coming here.We wish this place was nearer to home so we could walk!A good sized beer garden with plenty of tables and an element of cover.Keep up the good work and would highly recommend this place to anyone.Have visited again but on a different day to a Sunday and must say we were really impressed! The food was extremely good, service spot on and the team very friendly and receptive.Still walked away (well cycled) thinking we wish this place was nearer to us.... Although I'm pretty sure my partner would say different as I'd be here as much as possible! We have visited again, yesterday (Sunday 11th June) with some friends and can't fault it! The young serving team are extremely polite. The food is exceptional and our friends specifically ask to come here. Plenty of veg and lashings of gravy, with beef, pork belly and chicken cooked to perfection!!Please support this lovely local and ensure it remains for generations to come!

Very nice friendly pub.Staff were welcoming and allowed us to park our Motorhome in the car park before our meal to walk our dog.Big portions and very tasty.Over the past 10 years visiting Glastonbury area we have struggled to find a good Sunday roast until now.We will return again.

Absolutely amazing pub. Great selection of drinks, including guest ales. Plus, the Sunday roast is the best in the area. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Visited with 3 teenage children and two small dogs. We had a lovely meal in the bar area. Amazing flagstone floor and hearth. Attentive service and very reasonable given the quality of the food.
