The Muddled Man Inn
We had looked this place up online..we live nearby, so wanted to give it a try and support local businesses. The outside looked promising. Traditional pub in a nice village.Going inside we noticed straight away how dark and gloomy it was. The decor was very tired and very grubby. Not a great first impression, still, wanted to give it a fair go. The man behind the bar pretty much ignored us, he had a peculiar manner. Made us feel uncomfortable as though we were somehow interrupting him. The place wasn’t very busy. He was abrupt and unfriendly. We ordered our drinks. There were two choices of Sunday roast, pork or beef. We chose the pork. He went off to the kitchen and came back declaring the pork was finished. As we had been given our drinks we felt we had to stay, so opted for the beef.I asked him what is the beef like..he said it’s cooked…idiot. He said the beef would be like nothing you have ever tasted before…I really took a dislike to him but we were a bit stuck having no where else to get a Sunday roast at this point. We sat down and waited. The tables, carpet, walls were all rather tired and dirty. I had a bad feeling about this. But you never know, the food could be marvellous. Two plates of lunch arrived relatively quickly. The food was spilling over the small plates..stacked high with every veg and two slabs of beef. It looked like something my granny would have served up. Swimming in gravy. Some of the veg was cold, some hot, most of it was stewed and all of it was so salty it was inedible. We tried to eat some of it..but gave up.It was the worst Sunday roast we have ever been served. Absolutely vile.We left the food and our drinks. My husband paid and we left.On leaving I told him how disappointed we were and how unhappy we were but he couldn’t have cared less.I then told him he was right about the beef..I have never tasted anything like it..so bad that I had wrapped it in a napkin to take home for my dog.People..do not go to this pub..it is a complete joke, nasty, grubby, unfriendly…a real disgrace.

Exactly what you want from a pub. Made to feel welcome by the knowledgeable landlords, excellently kept real ale (3 on tap, rotated regularly) and lovely, charming bar area - and some tables outside.Could only stay for a couple but would have happily stayed all day. If every pub was like this the world would be a better place

We have just had 2 meals over 2 nights and cannot fault either. Good banter with Mick & Gary made to feel really welcome. We would love to be regulars but only here on holiday

Went to the MM last week with my partner and our dog after an absence of some years. Relieved to see nothing had changed. Excellent beer and good pub food. The best Ploughman’s I have had for a long time. 3 types of cheese, salad, onions, chutney and warm bread. Very generous portions. Partner had chicken burger and chips. Food and drinks totalled £27. I have paid that for one plate of food in some pubs. We were the only customers that lunchtime (a Tuesday) and had a very interesting conversation with the owner aged 90 years. Just the place if you want a traditional country pub.

A real inn run by real people! Whilst visiting a cousin in the area, he took us to this hidden gem. The landlords were front and centre, mixed in with the patrons, just how a traditional inn should be.Food was good pub grub and a lot for your money. If you're in the area, you have to visit.

We called in for an evening meal and everyone was really friendly and interesting to talk to. The meal was superb all freshly cooked and there are some really comforting and traditional items on the menu. A quirky and friendly place to pitch up and enjoy the view.
