Gorsey Allotments

Seen some very nice an Well maintained allotments my mate just got is plot

A beautiful green space within the city. Hopefully this never disappears, just need to let out all the plots on the site as there are many not being utilised. Would love to see a market set up by the plot holders to sell locally grown veg to local residents.

Got my plot pretty quickly (around 2015ish, took under a year from going on the waiting list). Many on the waiting list are offered plots but do not take them on, get your name down, you may be surprised how quickly you get one!A great location, unlike the main St Ann's site Gorsey is on a main road 5 minutes drive from the city centre and on the 45 bus route (plots are set back so you forget the cars), the access is easy with flatish ground and a small car park, all behind secure gates.Plots are varying sizes and provide plenty of space to get growing. Historically they are fenced with hawthorn, this still exists, some parts more intact than others. Most plots have existing structures. Unfortunately many vacant plots are very overgrown but that's to be expected from an allotment.All neighbours I've met have been very friendly, always willing to share knowledge, spare plants and materials or general chit chat.Summary:A great green place to spend the day and forget about busy city life.
