Signal Box Cafe
Great location on platform 2 at Totnes, I recommend the Super breakfast with extra toast, Cosy atmosphere, good simple food.Returned here post covid restrictions in October 21, the cafe was less cluttered and the food was just as good as before along with the freindly service as always.Sit against the windows for a close up view of the station operations.

I haven't been here for 30 years but I live in totnes now and thought we would come in it was lovely in all ways from staff food and cleanliness will be back soon and always recomend

Today was my first time of visiting this establishment. So start with the pros… great location and a beautiful conversion and repurposing of an old signal box. There was a reasonable selection of items and food appeared to be cooked to order and the pricing was fair. TheThe drawbacks: Service at the till was quite slow but what I will say is that this seemed mostly to do with how orders were being passed over to the kitchen which felt a little disorganised. Might have just been a busy spell when I visited so I’ve not marked that down too harshly, as I note other reviews speak highly of service and to be fair whilst a little slow, the guy on the till was incredibly polite and customer focused.One thing I would like to see is a better air conditioner or more of them, or even fans to get a bit of air movement - the portable one by the till wasn’t coping with the heat which made things rather uncomfortable - but I accept it was a rather hot day compounded by the heat coming from the kitchen. But I think diner comfort is something to consider for hot days.Would I go back again? Yes! It wasn’t perfect today but much better than the average and indeed better than some branded outlets found at stations.

I find it difficult to tolerate the older blonde lady who is employed there, as her lack of trust in me creates a sense of discomfort when I attempt to place my food order. However, I must acknowledge that the quality of the food remains satisfactory. I appreciate your response, although I must express my disappointment in never having experienced such discomfort when requesting substitutions or expressing willingness to pay extra for additional items. Came here for breakfast with my partner as a little treat, as our holiday comes to an end. Very cute little cafe that smelt delicious as soon as we walked in. The food was as good as it smelt and for a great price. They were also flexible with any different preferences of food.

One of the best value fry ups in town with lovely vegetarian options as well which is always appreciated. As far as train station cafe's go this definitely has one of the cosiest atmospheres to it and I recommend even if you don't have a train to catch.

I was given mouldy toast ..... and their response when I took it back was to say How did you see that ! " They only refunded the small breakfast i had partly eaten and not the entire order which included chips that i left as i felt sick after seeing the mould and my friend had already eaten his breakfast and toast so he is probably been sick now !! Disgraceful way to deal with my complaint of mouldy toast The very least they ought to have given me a full refund alongside showing some remorse !!!Not a bit of it !!So disappointing and makes me wonder how often they give unsafe food as they were more concerned with the fact that I had seen it and brought it to their attention than giving a customer unsafe food and possible food poisoningI've been sick twice since i got home and now cant work for the rest of the day I am self employed so lost revenue for me as well as paying for food poisoning. I will always recommend you do not go there So very upsetting I had to put one star in order to make this post however i would not give it even one star after today"

Cheap and tasty breakfast, good options and very quick service. Location is convenient and makes for a good spot for a meal before a long journey.

Huge and tasty fry-up for less than 10pounds. Super cute location right above the track and lovely staff. Highly recommend getting there 30-40mins before your train, no need to go into town for food.
