Very average experience. The festive menu was again very average. Good quality mussels but curry sauce lacked flavour and depth. The mushroom starter was thrown together. The only dish we agreed was great was selected off the main menu - the seafood linguine. Service was friendly but slow and not very attentive - sat at the table with empty plates in front of us for far too long, for a place that wasn’t overly busy that should at least be regimented. Needless to say we asked for the £20 service charge to be removed, not only for that reason but we don’t live in America and it shouldn’t be added to a bill in the first place. Give what you want, when you want and if you can afford to.

The only thing good is their dessertThe food quality deteriorated over the years sadlyNot only nothing wow it’s actually rather tastelessTo make it a little worst the service is rather lousyThey are attentive when you can get them but they rather to have a chat by their till than to look after their customersTo our surprise a very mature or very experienced waiter decided to remove my wife tiny little handbag and place it on the floor without asking either of us. Clearly that’s way beyond our expectations and not suppose to happen in a proper restaurant or any restaurant at all.Overall it’s impossible for us to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I have been to Rick Steins a few times, the service is wonderful, staff are very attentive and efficient. The food was incredible, honestly can not fault any part of it. Today we went for my nans birthday and it was a perfect afternoon.

Visited, without a booking, on a Saturday afternoon (2.30).Greeted really well and made to feel welcome by the maitre'd. Come and enjoy some time with us" was an expected and lovely things to say as he lead us to a table.The staff are knowledgeable

To be honest, thought the seafood platter was going to be amazing and shellfish bought in from best resources. Crab and oysters was nice but clams, mussels and prawns was far too cold and bland. My dining partner enjoyed the curry. Just expected better from a rick Stein restaurant?

Fabulous meal at RS restaurant, booking essential, we ate ala carte, but they do have set meals. We pushed the boat (just a little bit) out and our bill was £140 for two of us. We will be back. You must have the mussels in cider.

Friendly, cheerful and professional staff who were helpful with recommendations for drinks. My partner and I both had the three course set lunch menu which was delicious. Couldn't fault the food. Will be back.

The Indonesian fish curry was delicious, rich and vibrant. Mild heat that does not over power the delicate fish flavour. It's a must-try for anyone who loves seafood.I was underwhelmed with the Thai fish cakes. The staff are very attentive and overall good value for the money.

Wonderful food in a nice, relaxed, atmosphere and exemplary customer service.Would thoroughly recommend a visit. The grilled sardines were sublime and the seafood curry was very tasty.My wife adored the moules marinière.

After a poor experience around a year before, this time around was thankfully a very good evening. Mussels to start, seafood gratin for main and the Winchester pudding for afters. Lovely staff, cracking meal, good wine. Well done!
