The Practical Doula

Hannah was an invaluable source of knowledge and support to me in the months/weeks leading up to the birth of my third child and in the weeks following. When I first met with her I was hoping for a homebirth but unsure whether I had the confidence to go through with one or not. She instantly put my mind at ease and made me feel confident in my ability to birth at home. Hannah’s knowledge and attitude towards birth helped me become excited about the labour and even when I was advised to have an induction at 38 weeks due to suspected small baby she kept me focussed and confident in my instincts. Throughout the labour she was a great support offering guidance on how to move baby into a better position for labour and during the active stage of my labour she was very respectful of my birthing wishes and helped to communicate these to the midwives who were present. Her calm and soothing presence helped me remain positive and focussed throughout the birth and her reassurance helped me remain relaxed when I needed to be transferred to hospital due to a retained placenta. She is a wonderful lady who helped me achieve the most beautiful homebirth, memories of which I will cherish for the rest of my lifetime.

Hannah was my post natal doula. In hindsight it would have been wise to have her services sooner, but she came in soon after our baby was born and helped us find our feet after a premature birth and what felt like an emergency landing into first time parenthood.When choosing a person for such close personal work you want to find the right fit. A 1-1 with Hannah will give you the opportunity to know if you are right for one and other, before you get into the business end. I can only describe Hannah as kind, empathetic, down to earth, hard working, supportive and knowledgeable. Hannah can turn her hand to many tasks and has a calming presence. All the traits you need/want around you at birthing point.

Hannah supported us before and after the birth of our second child, Arthur. She was wonderful with me, the new baby and his older brother (aged 3 at the time). Having Hannah as part of our family made a hugely positive difference to those early months.
