Absolutely loved this place, it's definitely worth it. It's sooooooo well cared for, it's amazing! If you choose to visit the house, which I would recommend, be aware that gates only open at 2pm. So if you book for 2:15pm it's a bit tight considering the queue. However the lady at the kiosk calls for 2:15pm bookers. The cake is also amazing. Nothing negative to say at all.

We visited on the last open day of the year (usually open may-sept) . Entrance is free if historic house or RHS member. The house is still lived in by the family and hence no photos allowed inside . Visit is by tour which was extremely informative. The lady new all the facts and figuresA large amount of the portraits inside are horse related including some by stubbs, Fernley. There are also other pieces of art by munnings, zoffany, Ramsey and Wright of Derby. A large collection of sculptures and pottery can also be found. The gardens although small are beautiful, with hidden corners and areas abound. There is a basic cafe with the usual cakes, tea and coffee. This place is a hidden gem and is a must see in the area.

The gardens close to the house were growing well albeit similar plants in each. The wildflower garden was tired and possibly under renovation. Tea room was very basic. Quite an expensive visit. Could be a much better experience.

Been wanting to come here for ages but they have limited opening hours. We finally managed it and really enjoyed our visit. The garden is seriously immaculate. Very well maintained and beautiful grounds. A truly stunning place to visit. The house itself it very old and still lived in by the family. If you like horses and/or gardens then this is a place you must visit. Had a nice coffee and cake as well from the tea room. Interesting fact, one of the women who lived in this house a number of years ago, survived the sinking of the Titanic.
