The place was very busy. The boy who served us could not have been nicer or more helpful. A great wee cafe, the food was ace and we will definitely be back. Very impressed.

I do like this chippy but I’m always put off by the apparent lack of hygiene! Seeing the staff constantly touch their faces, put hands in their pockets, touch their hair etc then touch your food always gives me the ick.

£7.40 for a fish supper, cute wee sit in proper Italian chip shop that does many flavours of ice cream, and banana fritters.Fish - excellent, chips - good, 9/10, would recommend

Busy place and no wonder - the fish n chips are excellent, lovely lassies serving and a huge range of new and exciting ice cream flavours to choose from.

The sea food platter looked really nice on the website. However calamari were breaded as were the prawns and looked over done.Huge amount of chips didn't help justify the £8.Shame really. Could have been great.

You don't expect fine dining in a chip shop, and you get a fabulous chip shop atmosphere at Palmerston. Plus you get a widely varied menu - all the fried things that go with chips, pizza, wings and a big selection of Italian ice cream (Gelato?). We'd go back!

We were In Dumfries last night and said to the people we were with that we were going for a chippy. They recommended you. It didn’t disappoint. All freshly prepared while you waited. We actually sat in. What a busy place, everyone seemed to be ordering fish too. Chips are excellent and the fish was just fantastic, that batter. There’s a huge selection of ice creams too. Too full this time but definitely going to have next time I’m there.

Great chips eggs and beans. Nothing left on our plate. Take a break from the A75. And a free car park next door. Belly full. Ready to get back on the road. Drive straight past Tescos, Greggs and Kentucky. Good food.
