The Fleece
We had a lovely nights stay at The Fleece. It has a beautiful setting, overlooking a quaint green in a quiet part of town, and is full of historic character.Check in was swift and informal, and the staff were bright, helpful and attentive. When we arrived, on a Monday evening, we were astonished to find the bar and restaurant full of customers, which is testament to the popularity of the inn both locally and with tourists. We parked in the car park at the rear, off road and very safe. Our room was above the main restaurant but very quiet and well equipped for a restful nights stay. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the bathroom lovely, with a huge shower. Our meal in the restaurant that evening was wonderful too, with great service. Breakfast matched up to the same standard. This is a great place to stay if you are planning a trip to the Cotswolds or Oxfordshire, and we highly recommend it!

We booked the private dining room at The Fleece for an 80th birthday celebration - Sunday lunch for 18 people. The service was great - Finn was our waiter for the day and was extremely efficient and friendly. The food was very good. The only (very slight) issue that took a star (would have been half a star if that was an option) is that the room was quite crowded with 18 of us, the lighting was a little gloomy and the rug/mat under the table seemed to be a bit of a trip hazard. But that was a very minimal gripe - all round we had a very pleasant afternoon and everyone left feeling full of good food and good cheers. Thank you to all the staff.

Our breakfast experience here was thoroughly disappointing. The service was slow, and the food left much to be desired, taking well over an hour to arrive.Starting with the pancakes and bacon, these were evidently store-bought and reheated, accompanied by undercooked bacon. The pricing was considerably high for the subpar quality. The Full English breakfast was equally disappointing, as it arrived in a diminutive portion, lacking butter for the toast and featuring only a single tiny sausage. This was particularly disheartening given the cost.As for the Smashed avocado on toast, it was listed on the menu as being served with chili and spring onions, but these essential ingredients were notably absent. On a positive note, the Croque madam was delicious; however, the toast had suffered from excessive charring on the edges.Adding to our discontent, the service was slow, and the staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming. To make matters worse, there were missing items from our food order. In light of these issues, I cannot recommend this establishment.

We stayed on a Sunday night en route back from a wedding. Lovely room, lovely staff and wonderful roast. We were going to have a quick meal, but ended up relaxing for couple of hours with food and great wine (sorry Fleece team for hanging around the bar / restaurant - but it was such a lovely place to unwind!) Would highly recommend - great from start to finish. Thank you. We're about to book in again!

Sunday lunch for 3 people was really lovely. Excellent portion sizes everything was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were cooked superbly especially the carrots and parsnips. Even more surprised when our lovely waitress came round asking if we wanted more roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Unfortunately we had to decline as the portion sizes we were originally served were just right. I was the only one who had the mini pud simply because they were serving Soltice cheese which I really love and find difficult to obtain in stores. Atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing, it was busy but not too intrusive. One could chat comfortably. Overall a lovely Sunday afternoon.

The actual room was a lovely size and the bed really comfortable. The bathroom was big and clean. The staff were friendly.BUT all we could hear all night was a constant loud humming noise. Unsure what it was. We were next to the fire exit and I opened the door and it was even louder. We had hardly any sleep. Once we had an enjoyable breakfast we left to come home. So for us it wasn't worth the £168 for b&b.The evening meal was enjoyable but didn't have everything on menu unfortunately.

Very poor service and terrible food. Reading the other reviews about the restaurant, I can't believe we went to the same place. First reg flag, it took over 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive, half the menu was not available. When we ordered our main, about 30 minutes later the waitress came over and said, 'is it okay if I put your mains through now;! So another 30 mixture wait for the food, in the mean time a table of four people left after taking a few bits of their food. When the food finally arrived, it was dry and not cooked! We did complain and got a refund, but this is by far the worst dining experience I have had in years.
