Trinity College Punts

I absolutely *loved* getting to rent my own boat and give punting a try, and their prices were good. HOWEVER, this place made us wait in line but then helped people in line after us while leaving us to keep waiting. Then they told us that that was their last boat and we’d have to wait for one to come back. So I said we’d just leave and go someplace else, and then they *magically* could let us use one of the three boats still tied up. I was the only person they made hand over an ID that they held onto as a deposit, too—none of the other groups were asked for anything similar.Our hour on the water was great, though some basic instruction would’ve been nice. When we got back, there was a line of boats with elderly people trying to get back onto the shore. We waited our turn and then I went up and told the staff we were back. They more or less ignored me, so I tied up the boat myself. And then the guy running the show tried to charge us for the time we’d spent waiting to get on and off the boat and the time I’d spent doing their jobs, even though we were back right on time for our hour. In the end, we only paid for the hour, but he let others pay by card and then demanded we pay cash. So they get a 0 for customer service, but a 5 for the actual punting experience.

Fantastic place to rent a punt at a reasonable price. I would say get there early before the river gets busy. They do take card even though the website says cash only. One thing that would be nicer is if they gave you metal poles opposed to heavy wood ones.

Even though punting is really a nice experience, it needs specific skills. It’s my first time handling a boat via a pole. Excepted from making circles, I also almost hugged the river two or three times. The views alongside the river are beautiful. Definitely worth a try, £20/h here.

An enjoyable 45 minute tour on the River Cam. The cost is £20 per person for the guided tour. This was the 3rd time my friend has been punting and she said our guide didn’t share as much as others she’s had.

This is one of cheapest self punt boat and shared tour hires. The guy was friendly. We hired a punt to boat ourselves, we were struggling quite a lot as some basic instructions would have helped. It is definitely as easy as it looks, but is super fun on a sunny day.For punt hire, you have to submit your ID and get back when you return boat.If you want to learn punting, best time is to hire during weekdays or in early hours on weekends

This one is the best and cheap, i had 4-5times ride on the punts. Tour guide is so gentle and very good. I love the tour so much

Third time using Trinity Punts and pleased to say that each time has been a pleasant experience. My group and I went Saturday morning to avoid the mid-day rush and were able to collect a boat with ease. We took a boat and spent 1.5 hours out, costing us £30, one of the most reasonable prices along the river. The rose bush at Trinity is remarkable and the guys there are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this punting company to anyone seeking to attempt self-hire punting themselves.

As a local resident, I have been to all different punting companies. This is the most fair price and very good service for guided tour. I went three times this year with my friends from Canada, USA and China. John even kindly offered a kid paddle for the little ones so they could join the punting. Kids absolutely love it. Highly recommended.

The best thing about Cambridge. Sure you may have slight wait but that’s because they are awesome especially Chris … pictured. So good that we went back twice and just asked for him and waited 30 minutes for the privilege and it was worth the wait. May go back a 3rd time … sorry Chris :) Outstanding!
