Part of the Marstons chain, which never normally disappoints. The food was great once it arrived, but we had a few issues with the order, and the service was not the best, although the manager was pleasant. Has on-site parking.

My Husband and I came for a anniversary meal. Service was great. Staff were friendly and attentive. We didn’t have to wait long between ordering and the food arriving. The quantity and quality of the the food was was very good. I ordered a Rare steak, the chef out did themselves, it was cooked to perfection. We will definitely come again and will be recommending The Saxon King the family and friends.

Came in for dinner and a catch up with a friend. Atmosphere was perfect, low lighting and nice comfy table to sit and chat at. The food was very tasty, and the waitress was friendly and accommodating. Only slight negative was that we waited 25 mins for our desserts, but in all honesty we were laughing and chatting so much we hardly noticed.Will definitely be back as it’s the perfect spot to come in for some food.

The picture was taken after one bite. Cold chips and hard. The burger... frozen chicken. I used to buy them from ASDA. It is not the breaded breast homemade chicken you would think for the price. They even moved the chips around the plate to make you believe they have put enough chips Total rip off". The picture says it all

Out celebrating my brothers birthday. Bar looked busy when we arrived so feared the worse for service but were soon seated and menus arrived. Lovely waitress took our orders and drinks duly arrived.All four meals were well presented and tasted excellent. Only complaint was the view from the window. Can accept the council building but not the rubbish and what looked like a dumped caravan. If not dumped then neglected!Perhaps a couple of conifers planted to try and obscure the view of the adjacent building?Will return but please tidy up outside!

Excellent tasty food in nice surroundings with friendly staff.I had the honey & mustard glazed ham hock which was well cooked & I would recommend for hungry people as it was a good size, the burnt basque cheesecake was also lovely.A small tip is check the website for discount codes as we got 30% off

Visited on a Monday night, was quite quiet which was nice, friendly staff and plenty of seating choice, ordered food via the app and came quickly and was really nice, all in all a nice visit and would definitely go again, good value food as well plus lots of drinks choices and easy parking on site.

Come here for the first time tonight and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the roast dinner and the chicken nuggets, chips and beans from the kids menu. Everyone ate all the food and so was clearly satisfied with what they received. The young man who looked after us this evening was very helpful and polite. The desserts was really nice also, the whole experience was nice, just wish the vegetables on my plate was hot instead of cold, but other than that, we was happy customers.

Much improved! I was so disappointed a year ago that I had decided never to eat with you again. But had heard from friends that things had been improved. So myself and three others decided to give it ago. We all had a 3 course meal ranging from chicken, scampi, vegetarian and chicken tikka. All excellent food pipping hot followed by desert (crumble with custard was heaven) the staff very efficient and the whole restaurant looked clean. Will definitely go back.

Comfortable clean surroundings, good table service from Vicky, thanks.All four of us had the Festive menu and the food was all hot, tasty and plentiful.This Marston's venue is not as cheap as some other pub chains but you do tend to get what you pay for and we were happy with menu prices and the meals were served promptly and with care.We will certainly pay more visits in future based on this latest experience.
