I went there once a year to celebrate my aniversary. First 3 times was 5 stars. This time maybe change the chef or something else but was more expensive and 1 of the fillets was off. Smelling. I will not go back again

What a lovely place! Had an amazing meal, total meat feast :). Great staff, especially our waitress Catherine. And the chef was lovely and giving a lot of attention to our little daughter :) A place to come back! :-) x

A rather overpriced, average offer.South African cuisine claiming to offer meat of exceptional quality. Honestly speaking, the cookery of the mixed grill I ordered is rather unrefined and can be suitable for a Wetherspoon's or average pub, not for an almost £19 course.The meat was served alongside a rather dull and poorly dressed salad, an uninspiring grilled Portobello mushroom, a fried egg, two onion rings and chips. The two latter ones were satisfactory, but I've seen and tasted better efforts in gastropubs with cheaper price tags. See photo.Meat-wise, I asked mine to be rare, another diner in my party ordered the same dish rather well done. Both were cooked at the same level (medium-rare) with no discernible difference at all. The fillet's quality might be good, but it's hard to savour and assess it as it's overwhelmed by pepper. The lamb was alright and the chicken was well cooked in a rather strong marinade. The sausage was dry, (yet again) massively spiced and miles off an average sausage of Italian quality.The point is that overally, the plate was rather rough (for a £20 course) and I'm more accustomed to quality meat restaurants imparting more attention to detail and offering recipes which enhance and highlight quality and subtleties rather than bury them.

There is no stars for our experience. First, they made the booking on the wrong day and then to make space for us they had tell other people to leave. Mistake.....understandable. We were at the one in the city, a year ago and it was okay. Thought we will treat our friends here, that is Scottish. No one, but no one, could eat there steak. It was awful, tuff, basting was just wrong. Myself and a mate had ribeye, no no no no no no no no. Ag nee manne. Fire daai chefs. Julle gaan ons nooit weer sien nie. Dit is wragtig nie hoe ek SA restaurante ken wat steak maak nie. My mates say that they will rather braai/bbq at my place and eat proper steak on there own time and not force down by the waiters and it is tender and full of flavour. Dit was belaglik en embarrassing om te sê dis hoe ons steak eet. Trust me people this is NOT the way South Africans eat or make there steaks. That was £230.00 I just sponsored a very bad night out. It was so bad that I could not expect my friends to pay for there food as it was my idea to go to this KAK place. The only thing that was good was the beer that was sealed in a bottle. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make it better. This is not South African steak. WOW!!!!!!!!

Excellent and hearty South African Cuisine, if you're hungry this is the place. Succulent Meats, Traditional Favourites and A Warm Atmosphere. Shebeen is ideal if you're in need of a meat fix

I am weighing out a few things here. Its a cosy place, food is served relatively fast, prices are reasonable for what they are, the starters are pretty good and the portion sizes feeds many!The only draw back to this place is the flavour of the burgers and steak. The meat themselves are a bit bland and depend heavy on sauce.Apart from that, its a good place to go to if you need to be fed for the next few days!

Nice atmosphere and interesting decor. Good fast attentive and unobtrusive service. Reasonable range of wines. A bit pricy. Food mostly wellCooked but some meat a little tough.My partner had a dish involving rice and immensely disliked the rice. Next time we will try the burgers which looked good as they passed our table.

Some of the best steak I have ever eaten.The steak is well seasoned and beautifully cooked over charcoal. I did try the monkey gland sauce which was tasty but not really necessary.Like Arnie I will be back.

over priced,we spend 80pounds for 2 person.could have a much better steak for what we spend. I left all most full plates of steak,waiter ask me would like to takeaway, avoid.waste of my money . wouldn't be back.i was in the restaurant at 19 July which is Thursday night.

Excellent service, food and quality. They are always welcoming. I've eaten here a number of times and it's always a pleasant experience. Their food portions (even the starters) are very filling.
