Oban Youth Hostel

Warm and comfortable, good shared facilities which were kept clean during our stay. Friendly and approachable staff.

We arrived early for check in and Fiona at hostel accommodated us with lots of information about hostel, even letting us check in early as we had been on bikes all morning. Staff member is a credit to hostel as her hospitality skills are amazing.

The receptionist 'Fiona' was beyond expectation. She was very lovely, kind and customer friendly ☺️. We were expecting the usual negative response as all the receptionist would behave but she surprised us with no other question she just amazed us

Good location to stay and comfy. Shower was so intense. Great views you can see the sea from window. 15 minutes work from oban station and ferry terminal.

What a lovely place. Clean and friendly. We had the best night sleep in a 6 person dorm. Best shower bar none.I am sitting outside enjoying a coffee before we go on our way. Perfect place and very well priced.

Nice location. Room was not very spacious but was clean and beds were super comfortable. I didn’t use the ensuite shower because we were queuing up for it ,but the common shower was great. Kitchen was spacious and functional.

Facilities comfortable but not luxury. Personnel is nice and easy. Rooms are neat, cozy, secure and warm. Noise level is low. Generally - a good stay.

A very nice, clean hostel by the sea. The location is great you can walk around the city. The staff is amazing. A lot of communal areas. If you arrive late at night you might struggle to find a parking spot but there is parking on the street which you have to pay during the day.

It was nice that the toilet was separated from the shower but there were no ventilation in the shower so it was extremely humid in there. Everything else about the room was alright.

I stayed on two occasions, bookending a trip to the Outer Hebrides. On the return trip I'd picked up some foot injuries from incorrect footwear and a stubborn mind, and hobbled into the hostel. The staff immediately clocked onto the fact that I was in pain, and promptly made adjustments to the room, including giving me extra pillows to elevate my feet, reserving a bottom bunk, and allowing me into the room to rest before the official check-in time (I hadn't asked for any of this). The staff are kind and professional, and clearly have an interest and love for what they are doing, and it shows across the youth hostel. Oban is a lovely town in and of itself, although I think its main draw is that it's a gateway to the highlands and islands. The hostel is a great place to begin and end your journey (but if you are travelling by train, reserve a seat, because they cram ya like sardines, especially on the weekends.)
