Silbury Hill
Beautiful scenery and a remarkable landmark. People might not always realise that there is no access to the site given its significance. Still, it’s worthwhile a visit, and there are so many other important locations to experience along the way. Glad we finally took time to stop and explore

Mystical and very beautiful place to visit.River Kennet is near by. Scenic surroundings with picturesque fields.National trust car park is very expensive somany people are parking on the road ( free of charge), short walk from men made pyramid, which you can't miss.Very impressive and eye catching wonder of the Neolithic world for sure!Climbing on the top of the pyramid is not allowed ( you can see signs which states that).Nevertheless, we have been told by very helpful local guy, that it is favourite druids place and they are often climbing on the top of it to perform their rituals. Also, apparently, the UFO been seen hovering above the pyramid in 2020.Some pictures of UFO could be found in google.

Silbury hill is The largest artificial mound in Europe, At 39.3 metres (129 ft) high, it is the tallest prehistoric human-made mound in Europe and one of the largest in the world, the mysterious Silbury Hill compares in height and similar in volume to the roughly contemporary Egyptian pyramids. Probably completed in around 2400 BC, it apparently contains no burial. Though clearly important in itself, its purpose and significance remain unknown.Silbury Hill is part of the Avebury World Heritage Site, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.Signs around sayingNO CLIMBING

England’s hilariously cool attempt at an Egyptian Pyramid (as the joke goes), it was actually quite cool being close to the ancient icon.Shame we couldn’t get closer to this giant Teletubbies house, but it’s worth a look if you’re interested in historic icons. Nice drive to get there too.

I had to go to London, so I took the scenic route, I was intentionally driving through Avebury to show my wife where I take my daughter for summer solstice... it was only by chance that we came across this, and it had a convenient layby right beside it, so we spontaneously pulled over to get out and see it up close. As we were walking up to it, it suddenly became very clear that even from 100 yards away, which we were parked that, we were deceived with the size of it!At the bottom of the mound is a fence that informs you that it is prohibited from climbing it and being the law-abiding citizens that we are we complied!Purely based on my observation

Beautiful spiritual place to visit with fantastic views of countryside and an ancient site to explore. You can't get very close to the monument as it's the largest of its kind in Europe and has been damaged in the past. Parking is limited but worth every minute.

Impressive to say the least. the labour hours involved and the earth moved just to make this happen were clearly immense and sitting on the bank looking toward this monument had me thinking about this aspect for a good while. Pretty special. It's large! Especially since it sits in a relatively flat landscape.

This place really takes up the skyline. Amazing it was built by hand. I only walked passed it however I plan on revisiting to have a closer look.

It's still a mystery why it was built but it's a great place to ponder. It gets very wet when it rains so stick to the car park and viewing point or take wellies or even waters if you want to wall the paths around it as the stream overflows and makes a moat around it.
