I was really struggling with my playing until I booked my first lesson with Bob almost 2 years ago. After just 1 session Bob highlighted and corrected a load of issues with my technique that my previous teacher didn't even seem to notice. With ongoing lessons I've developed my tone and technique further than I ever thought possible and not only that, but when things do go wrong I've been given the tools to diagnose and correct the issues myself (with some guidance from Bob). I can't recommend Bobs lessons enough. And further more Bob owns the fantastic Curly Woodwind where I get any advice, accessories, reeds, repairs and adjustments when I need them, what more could you want.

Bob’s a great teacher as well as a great player. Conveniently based in Curly Woodwind in the City Centre. I always enjoy my lessons and always come away feeling I’ve learned something. No hesitation in recommending as a teacher for beginners or players looking to improve their technique and/or improvisational skills.

If you want to learn to play the sax properly, rather than just blow a few notes, then you need to learn from someone who knows what he is talking about and practises what he preaches. Bob is a professional musician and an excellent teacher, and having had lessons from being a complete novice to being a more competent player I can testify to his patience and his ability to understand his students needs and requirements at all levels, both in practical playing and musical theory. Highly recommended.

Liverpool Sax Lessons has guided me from total novice to performing in front of over 700 people at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall . Ok, I was just one amid 100 other musicians but I was able to play with confidence and didn't let the side down. Sax lessons with Bob are instructive, productive and original, he is a total expert as both player and teacher, and he'll go the extra mile to help you.

Bob has been my sax teacher for about ten years, he knows when to push you harder and when to take it easy. It is very rare that I don’t laugh at some point during a lesson which was something I never expected when I started. No matter what stage you are at learning the sax Bob can help you, whether like I was a complete beginner or someone with years of experience give him a try- you won’t be disappointed!

Bob is an excellent jazz player as you can find by listening to his Blind Monk Trio, and it was after seeing him play a couple of times that I asked him for lessons. Bob has an obvious love and enthusiasm for the saxophone and this comes across clearly in his lessons. There doesn’t seem to be a player, new or old that he hasn’t spent time listening to and considering. He has a keen interest in the underlying sound of the instrument and certainly in my case this has improved immeasurably with his guidance over the last year so. In terms of what to play, so far as jazz goes, he has very clear ideas on the way to approach the apparent difficulties of “playing over the changes”. This is quite systematic, but with seemingly unending new ways to keep it interesting, and always explained well and demonstrated clearly. Bob is also very nice to deal with and I don't hesitate to recommend lessons with him.

Have been playing sax for a few years. Well thought I’d been playing, but actually had just been blowing some air through it whilst moving my fingers about! Have now been taking lessons from Bob for about six months and am at last actually starting to understand the instrument and the techniques required to play it correctly. I have made more progress in the last six months than since first starting to play!Bob is both an excellent teacher and player & his lessons are great value for money. So no matter where you are on your saxophone journey you will certainly gain immensely from one to one lessons with him.

BOB is a first class musician and tutor who I would highly to recommend anyone who is looking for a teacher to give him a call.I am an intermediate player and, have been muddling around trying to further my skills by myself, for a long time, I was going around in circles not making any progress at all.To date have only had four lessons with Bob and already I can see progress and direction in my playing, he's really moved me forward Bob is a friendly patient guy, great tutor and further more ha has an excellent Saxophone shop in Curly woodwind.

Bob is a very knowledgeable teacher with extensive teaching experience. He knows his stuff ! I have been playing for a long time and he was very quickly able to make a judgement in my first lesson about what I needed to work on to improve. I would recommend Bob for anyone wanting to learn jazz improvisation and anyone who is looking to improve their sax technique and sound.

I was only in Liverpool for a short time and had lessons with Bob every night. I learnt more in that week than I had in the last six months. He gave me a lot to think about and a lot to work on. I've been playing the tenor saxophone for four years. I'm using Bobs suggestions and advice in my daily practice routine. . I also got to see him play live at the Caledonian on the Friday night. If I was still living in Liverpool, I would have regular lessons with Bob, a great teacher and a great saxophone player.
