Living at The Leat has been a great experience! The buildings are a very short walk to high street/the shops as well as the river. The owner and maintenance has been fantastic, I would 100% recommend these apartments to students living in Exeter.

I have been living at the leat for 6 months and i have loved every moment. The development is perfect and the atmosphere is very calm and exciting. The people involved with the leat including the landlord and the reception area everyone is very helpful. The area that is around leat is also very scenic as there is river that flows nearby. You have all the necessary thing available near your flat.

The positives:I enjoyed the privacy and calmness of the property. This enables a good environment for study which was a priority for me.The outdoor garden is very relaxing. The cleaning staff were the most tenderhearted people I've come across in Exeter and went above and beyond their jobs in making me feel welcomed. The Gym membership inclusive of the rent payment was of great value to me.Apartment 26 was spacious and the garden was a great addition However I would recommend that amendments be made to accomodate a larger fridge. The negatives:The wifi connectivity issues were a big concern for me as at times it affected my academic study. Majority of academic content for students these days is online and particular attention needs to be paid to address it for future tenants.Maintenance issues took awhile to be addressed. The biggest concern I had and was ultimately the reason for not extending another year was the attitude and professional conduct of the estate agents appointed by the landlord to manage the property. My interactions with them over some of my concerns in the course of my tenancy often left me with the impression that my complaints weren't being taken seriously enough or that I quite sadly wasn't being taken seriously due to me being a foreign student of young age. I often found that I had to become increasingly confrontational with them in order for me to be taken seriously. In one instance I had a package of valuables stolen from the mailroom and my recommendation for CCTV cameras to be installed on the property was completely ignored until another theft months after of a tenants bike happened, which may have been avoided if prompt action and proper concern for tenant feedback was prioritised.I believe that the intentions of the landlord are right but the students and the landlord are being let down by the estate agents. I recommend that the landlord appoint agents specialised in dealing with students of different backgrounds such as CRM or Hello Student.

My girlfriend and I have loved living at the leat. It’s nice and quiet so is perfect for studying. The location is great as it’s near the city centre but also by the river. Both the landlord and the agency are really friendly, very quick and helpful when any issues arise.

I lived here for my third year, honestly, it's ridiculously expensive for what it is. The management overlooked by West of Exe Real estate agency is utterly trash and I really would not recommend it. My apartment had a leak and they knew about it for months but the only time they decided to do anything was once the leak got so bad it was dripping on the bed of the apartment below so much so she couldn't sleep in her bed. They then proceeded to turn off my apartment's water completely leaving me for a week with no water and no compensation. I couldn't bathe, wash my hands, or cook and they offered no alternative so I had to spend my own money to find a place to shower and use public toilets to pee. Additionally, a few times the fire alarm went off and it remained on for more than 24 hours as it was not a matter of urgency for them to take their time to fix it, this was during the exam period making it next to impossible to study. The toilet in general was poorly made, they had to do a lot of construction inside to fix the many issues with it alongside it getting mouldy real fast. OVERALL please do not get a place here because it's so not worth it ESPECIALLY for the ridiculously overpriced apartments.
