Yates - Hull
Yates is a popular pub in a former bank. The Spectacular building has been repurposed into a good food pub. There's a really good reasonably priced food menu. It's a good place to get something to eat, have a drink and meet friends. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. There's a wide choice of beers, lagers cider and wine. They are mostly the same as those available in many of the other town bars. My big complaint is the lack of hand pulled cask conditioned real ale. It's annoying when You Ask and the staff say well there's no demand for it. A small pub with a low turnover you can understand it, but in a popular busy pub like this there's no excuse, whether it's because they're just can't be bothered or it's cost saving I don't know, but if Wetherspoons around the corner can have such an excellent choice why can't Yates?

Absolutely love this place.Both ladies at the bar are super helpful, attentive and pleasant.We visited with our little girl last evening and the ladies were extremely friendly towards her.Their beers and cocktails are lovely.The tables are very clean and the staff are always wiping and clearing the place.Lovely little bar and atmosphere.Thumbs up!

Sorry guys but generic is the key word here. It does what it says on the tin in this case. You get a beer and you get some food. I can't even remember what I had. Value was good though.

The food was bland. Our waitress was fantastic and was very helpful. Cheap prices but I guess you get what you pay for. The place itself could really do with a revamp.If you are a lone wheelchair user you will struggle to get in. Its a step up and whilst I believe they have a ramp, getting it put out could be an issue.I certainly won't rush back.

Well after Yates took this over it had a shakey start. However, they seem to have pulled it together. This is a very busy bar & restaurant so we had to wait about half an hour for our food, we was told this as we ordered, so wasn't a problem. The place was very clean so not sure what previous review means. I guess tables can take a while to get cleared but as Its a gastro pub, they don't employ loads of staff so man up and move them to another table or the bar. We ordered our food which when arrived was very nice. Plenty of side salad spicy rice and sandwiches that were well filled. Cheap beer 2.20 a pint, real ale and house wine for just under a tenner. Clean toilets too.

Good food, very chill atmosphere. Lovely if you want to just kick it after work, probably watch a live sporting event. Staffs were very friendly and were patient in my quest to find the “right” brew for me. They were quite knowledgeable about the options and made some very good recommendations. Had the chicken wings and it was very good, had it twice.
