I'm in my third year so I've had experience with letting agencies and this one is shocking. The emails are rude and never get to the root of the problems, and with their houses, you're bound to get problems...When we turned up we had to wait an hour at the office for keys as they completed an inventory. After this 1 hour (and a bit) wait, we were able to go into the property to find multiple problems. The main shower wasn't turning on and all the kitchen electrics were tripping. When i reported this, I was told to sort if myself! considering I'd been in the property for about 5 mins this seems pretty unreasonable and should've been sorted DURING the inventory. I was assigned the role of sorting the issues they had all summer to fix. After spending the first hour of my time at the property fixing the kitchen, I reported a faulty washing machine and dishwasher. This issue persisted throughout the whole first semester. Many handymen came to the property and reported the wiring as extremely dangerous and potentially unfit for habitation. This has been reported in MULTIPLE emails which have been brushed aside. At £110 a week, this is daylight robbery and don't know how they get away with it.Don't make the mistake of falling for the kindness as this is clearly a show. Once you're in the contract, they won't care about you at all, just your money.Avoid, avoid, avoid. There's many other tenancies that'll provide a quality service. Ignore this scam. I'm also one to not leave reviews but I feel this is needed.Any option for less than 1 star?

I am not in the habit of writing reviews (in fact this is the first one I have written) but I want to warn others to think very carefully before using MyTenantRent.MyTenantRent is owned and managed by Dixie and Chris who seemed nice enough on first impressions, but this soon changed when we reported problems with the property. They became unpleasant and rude.My son moved into one of their properties last year (27 Ridley Road, Kensington). The house had not been properly cleaned before he moved in. The bed in his room was really dirty and stained. The freezer had old food in it which had defrosted. The back yard had several bin bags of rubbish in it. The bathroom was really dirty and in a poor state of repair. I have attached photos showing the poor condition of the property at the time my son moved in.The carbon monoxide detector has gone off intermittently since the start of the tenancy. The first time the alarm went off no one could be reached on the emergency contact number that MyTenantRent provided. On one occasion the detector went off and was reported to the agent immediately, however the boiler was not attended to until 2 days later and during this time the tenants continued to occupy the property. No emergency accommodation was found for the tenants even though the carbon monoxide detector had gone off and the boiler may have been unsafe. In May I telephoned the office and requested an up to date Gas Safety Certificate but Dixie and Chris both refused to speak to me. A few minutes later, I received an email stating that they would not correspond with me further as I had been abusive and was harassing them (this was not the case). It transpired that the Gas Safety Inspection was late( It was due no later than the 3rd May). It had not been completed within 12 months of the previous inspection which is a regulatory requirement. There have been occasions when MyTenantRent have entered my sons room without providing notice to him or without him being present. The emergency control valve for the gas supply is located in a lockable bedroom occupied by a tenant. The gas safety regulations state that the emergency control valve should be accessible at all times.Like other reviewers, MyTenantRent failed to respond to several enquiries we made about these matters. They ignored phone calls and emails (my son had given permission to correspond with me).I agree with other reviewers. MyTenantRent you should be ashamed of yourselves. You target young people with little or no previous experience of renting property and you have a complete disregard for their safety and wellbeing. I would urge anyone renting student accommodation to think very carefully before using MyTenantRent.

I had a meeting scheduled with Chris in this office today. I run and manage a service based business here, unfortunately I was not going to be able to make that meeting I tried several times to reschedule, however, his personal appointment was obviously more important than his work related obligations. I from the start had no interest in working with this company but did try and accomodate a ridiculous request they had. I missed a business meeting, knowingly, and frankly I'm somewhat glad I did. As this is the case I did offer apologies, however, yelling at me over the phone sure is an extremely professional way to handle a change of plan. Honestly I'm not surprised at some of the other reviews.

TL;DR: Unprofessional communication throughout tenancy, will shaft you when you try to get your deposit back. Now 118 days after moving out and still don't have full deposit returned. There are much better lettings agencies out there.I've given them 2 stars because there were some issues with they house that they sorted out relatively quickly, but I've never had the displeasure of interacting with a more unprofessional uncommunicative company. The house was mouldy and had personal items from the previous tenants still in it (they later tried to charge us to remove kitchen cleaning items we left for the next tenants). There was a viewing organised with less than 24 hours' notice (this is illegal) and were around 10 viewings in total while we were living at the property. There were then 2 or 3 more viewings organised that they never showed up to - how hard would it have been to email us to say they weren't actually coming? It took 6 weeks for them to tell us how much of the bills budget we had left. After moving out, they claimed we stained the mattresses when they were disgusting when we moved in, and there were several other things on the checkout report we disagree with. They stopped communicating until we threatened to take them to court. Now they are refusing to use the arbitration service they are contractually obliged to use so there is still money we feel we are owed. They blamed delays on the landlord, contractors, or utility companies - everyone else I know had their deposit back within weeks so there's just no excuse for it at this point.

This is the second year I've rented a property with my tenant rent. Any problems I've had so far have been dealt with as best as they can at the time and the contractors were always lovely to chat to while they worked (pre covid). The letting agency isnt perfect it took longer than expect to receive my deposit back and I had to call and remind them to get it back but it was dealt with and I recieved it shortly afterwards. The houses were pretty clean when we moved in with the exception of a mouldy fridge that had been left open slightly, by the time we moved in fully my tenant rent had had the fridge cleaned. When searching for houses and talking to other letting agencies my tenant rent was by far the friendliest and had some of the nicer student houses.

Made it a nightmare to move in to begin with, said we had to meet certain requirements such as documents and deposits which were met only to be told that wasn’t the case. Nearly homeless for two weeks because of it. Talked down to us because we were students. Dreaded having to deal with them to deal with matters. Had no warm water for 4 weeks in middle of December. They didn’t seem rushed to get it fixed. Met other tenants who were also contracted with them and they had similar problems. Worst agency I’ve ever dealt with. Hope this helps other student be deterred

I had a short but very good relationship with the guys at mytenantrent. They helped with a difficult tenant who needed some careful handling. Nothing was to much trouble and Dixie, Chris and Craig acted professionally throughout. After a culmination of events the tenant decided to leave to property and it is now for sale. If I come back to Liverpool as a landlord I will definitely use this company. For students or families looking for a good agent look no further. Anthony

This review has been edited at the request (not force) of Mytenantrent (MTR).Just moved out of a house with this company. We had maintenance issues approximately every three weeks, including consistent issues with the boiler from December onwards. Maintenance issues often took longer than ideal to fix due to issues not being logged correctly, an example of this is when we reported our freezer had a problem with the pipes but it was reported by MTR as a problem with the seal (due to this being a cheaper problem). The contractor agreed that this was a pipe problem and told us to call back when we had defrosted it so he could come and fix it. As we were moving out only two/three weeks after this, we decided to wait until move out to defrost the freezer thus the problem was not dealt with (we are fine with this), however Dixie has just told me that she received an invoice for the thermostat (which the contractor did not state was the problem) so I can only assume there are gaps in communication between parties here. For this reason it would be difficult to place all the blame for this on MTR, although I was told to contact the office once the problem was fixed and there was no further contact between the office and myself, so I assumed that the agents were aware the problem was ongoing.[This part of the review contained experiences faced by another tenant in my property (but not me) so I have removed it as MTR have informed me that this is not my business]There was an incident in Winter whereby a contractor entered the property (with a key) at around 8pm on a Saturday night without notice or need (a previous maintenance issue had been fixed the week before so I can only assume that is how the key was obtained by this man). Myself and one other girl were alone in the house at the time (not expecting anyone), it was pitch black outside, and we were quite terrified when a very large man entered our living room and told us he was here to fix the washing machine on behalf of MTR (it was not broken). He walked into the kitchen, told us he had the wrong house, and left. I made the agents aware of this the following Monday via phone call but have just been told over the phone that they were not aware of this, so can only assume there have been more gaps in communication.I have just been contacted by the company to discuss my review, and was met with incredibly hostile and rude language from Dixie from the outset, which seems inappropriate as this obviously did not resolve the issues in any way. I have since spoken with Chris, who I was able to speak with maturely and resolve the conversation very quickly. Now, I am a 21 year old girl finishing University, and fortunately am very confident speaking with older adults, however if I was not as confident I would have felt incredibly intimidated and probably would have got upset on the phone. I understand that this is a local company, and that it is ran very informally (which of course is a great way to appeal to students), however the choice of language used absolutely could have been far more professional, and polite. An example of this was when Dixie told me I had called the company 'liars' in my review and I corrected her to say although I mentioned that there had been instances of dishonesty in communication, I did not outright call the entire company liars as this is a large statement to make. Dixie's response to this was 'so are people who don't tell the truth not liars then?' which I believe is an immature and inappropriate way of responding to this. It tells me that there is going to be little opportunity for mature and professional communication when working with the company, although I did not have these kind of issues with other members of staff, so cannot hold the company wholly responsible for the actions of one person.I am extremely concerned about what will happen with my deposit following this hostile conversation , but politely request to not be contacted by the company again other than to discuss any issues with deposits when the time comes.

Terrible experience. We had to change property and we give one month notice. We moved on the new property one month in advance and pay all the rent for the month we wasn’t living in. Before leaving we clean the house properly and painted the rooms backs to white. The agency use the house for viewing all the month multiple times a week without saying a word. The only one was: please close your window cause is your responsibility to keep the house secure, while the house was still in my name and I paid for it. They didn’t mention any possible problem for have the deposit back, while enjoying the empty house for their porpoises and interests. When I go back to the house to properly clean I found out the main door was unlocked which was ridiculous. After the contract ends I ask them when I would have back the deposit and they take time. Now finally they said no deposit back cause we painted the rooms. Why can’t you say in the month you was using the house for your interest to give me at least the chance to fix it? They as well complaint for the cleaning which was way better then how we get the house in the first place.

In the past I’ve found dealing with letting agents to be an exercise in futility. For once that hasn’t been the case. Found the staff I dealt with to be friendly and very helpful. Moving in and (more importantly) moving out both went as smoothly as they could. Deposit took slightly longer coming back then expected but it did but my account eventually. Which in my past experiences proves to be a rarity.Thankfully, I’ve since purchased my own property so no longer need to deal with landlords or letting agents. If I did however, I would definitely use MyTenantRent again
