Overpriced for what you get. Van Gauge’s paintings are bright and vivid, but the digital projectors used in the exhibits were dull and bleached. Not many pictures shown and some out of focus. Long sequence of a steam train with lots of smoke! Another long sequence of cherry blossom falling. Seating is on deckchairs. At the conclusion of the show you are asked to pay. Further £3 for a virtual reality experience.

St . Mary's is currently hosting a Viking Exhibition, utilising the experts and some of the exhibits from the Adjacent Yorvik experience. The experts are engaging, knowledgeable and passionate. Well worth the small entry fee - £5.00 an adult and our 10 year old daughter got in free.

I've been back to the Van Gogh Immersive Experience twice now with different people, absolutely stunning and worth the reasonable price for such an event. Kids were there and loved it.Price - we booked on line £11 concession plus £3 in there for the Virtual Reality. Worth it.Three sections:# main part of the Church with moving surround projections. Mainly deck chairs and a few scattered benches.# side aisle (reached via a doorway front right (up some steps), with info, projection onto a vase of his Iris and Sunflowers, plus a bit of colouring in that can be projected +not working the 2nd time we went)# through the side aisle the Virtual Reality (extra £3), stools, visor (remove glasses for proper fit) and head phones. Stunning experience and made sense of Van Gogh.Accessibility - level entrance and access to the Nave (main area of the Church), accessible to wheelchair users. Toilet and exit accessible. Side aisle exhibition and Virtual Reality access via Chancel stone steps up.Hearing impaired - sit on the bench to the left as you enter the Nave and your by a speaker. Others may also be available!Visually impaired - semi darkness majority of time. However the Immersive movement might prove an experience.Car Park)Park and Ride - this is York, nearest Park and Ride stop is the #8 bus from Grimston Bar to The Merchant Adventurers Hall. Go round to Coppergate (or straight through Primark). St Mary's is nextdoor to the Yorvik Centre.Toilets - across and through from the entrance into the Nave, including toilet for disabled.

It was an amazing experience. We saw the The Vincent Van Gogh exhibition in this church and loved it. The building is so beautiful as well.

Current Van Gogh installation is amazing, a bit pricey, but glad we experienced it. Very well done.

The Van Gogh Immersive Experience was fantastic & well worth the money. The music to accompany the moving images is also wonderful. Try the virtual headset too.

We were lucky, by turning up early we managed to simply go in without setting a time. However, if I specifically wanted to go on a particular day I would book ahead as it can get very busy.Really enjoyed the Van Gogh display. A little tranquility in an otherwise very busy city. There are some small steps to be negotiated for those with prams and wheelchairs.
