What an amazing transformation, great tapas menu, extensive range of drinks, continental lagers, cocktails, wines, IPA’s. Staff very welcoming and friendly, lovely ambiance. A much needed and welcomed addition to Newport !! We’ll be back x

Excellent food and service. It was quiet as it was an early lunch but more people coming as we were leaving so imagine the atmosphere would be good. I'll sample that when I return, which I definitely will.

Great service, delicious tapas and wine choices. We ordered 9 plates between 2 which was a lot - but it all sounded so good! Every single dish was beautiful and each plate allowed for two to comfortably share. We finished it all! Owner is fabulous and she made us feel really welcome (as she always does at The Goldcroft too!) Second visit already booked for next Thursday and looking forward to sampling more dishes and the cocktails then with friends. A great addition to Newport and I have a feeling it will be a regular dinner and drinks choice for date night and get together with friends.

We went for lunch. The food was out of this world. I’m veggie and the range was great. Meat dishes were beautifully cooked. The range of drinks was so good I didn’t know what beer to start with. What was good was that they have sourced drinks you don’t find very often. Well chilled wine was great to find. Very rare you find that in a pub these days. Atmosphere was lovely and the staff were attentive and friendly. We’ll be going again.

Having seen the handful of good reviews I'm genuinely disappointed to write this. Pre booked table early as week before Xmas. Didn't expect to see staff in doorway, literally in the doorway, smoking as we arrived. Not a pleasant start having to walk through that. One table of 2 occupied, otherwise inexplicably empty.Having purchased drinks we ordered 6 plates.It arrived promptly. The calamari was rejected instantly. I'd never seen anything like it..thin spaghetti like strands, golden brown (burnt) that snapped when picked apart.The female staff member came over moments later and said she 'agreed' it was over cooked and would we like another, or something else. Quite why one of the two chefs couldn't agree that before it was served is a mystery.Look, I get it, òsmall plates etc etc...but the tiny and I mean ridiculous tiny little white saucers they provide for you to use are just not fit for purpose. It was actually quite comical. But I suppose anything bigger would emphasis that the portion sizes are pretty pitiful.Two very small boneless chicken thighs for £7..as tasty as it was this is not value for money.5 plates, 3 drinks (2x pints 1 coke) £48 later, we left..no other diners in this time other than a couple who experienced similar disappointed.Our departure, similar to our arrival was through smoke as both chefs were outside having a cigarette. Not a great look.This place really could be something, but it lacks finess and atmosphere.The food is decent, very tasty albeit you'll struggle to justify the value for money and accept it's a small relatively expensive snack.Genuinely disappointed that I won't be returning but more so that I'll find it difficult to recommend.

The food here was absolutely unreal. Was so tasty and really filling. Staff were amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely be back!! X
